Historical property, great ambiance. Mexican style courtyard and fountain. Outside dining. Music on selected evenings. Staff was helpful and very freindly.
Excellent Hotel, clean, friendly staff. Drinks & Food with live DJ in the patio was great & relaxing.

Liked: Cleanliness
This is a historic, unique property. Unfortunately, the hotel couldn’t seem to find my Expedia reservation and had to book me differently. It took quite a bit of time to get checked in. Another man behind me was having problems because they put him in a room that was already occupied. They just don’t seem very organized. I was supposed to receive credit toward food and drinks in the restaurant on site, but they did not provide those to me…they said they couldn’t. No reason why.

Disliked: Cleanliness, amenities
Rooms very small, the restaurant was closed and there was no where to eat. The staff started cleaning and making noise at 7 am.
What a gem of a place buried deep in the heart of a flat and windy land! A joy to the road weary traveler! The courtyard and lobby draw you in with its charm of a bygone time, and the staff treat you like royalty. An overall lovely experience.
It was very clean, and makes ya feel like you’re being transported back in time. The rooms are cozy, comfy, spotless, and dare I say, luxurious? PLUS, the private balcony was just lovely. All of the beautiful tile throughout the hotel is truly stunning! The courtyard was also so beautiful. I worked on the puzzle in the library for a couple of hours… you’re missing ONE piece (that I know of)… I almost finished the edge and the whole left side! The one piece that’s missing IS an edge piece. I picked up some cool stuff in the gift shop, including a new puzzle, and next time I stay, I want a balcony overlooking the courtyard.
You have a special place there. Thanks for making it such a pleasure to be a guest. Your staff went above and beyond which was just the cherry on the already iced cake! I wish you were closer to Cali!! 😊
Got the room right off the hotel lobby. It is extremely loud, we can hear every conversation from the people that have gathered in the lobby, not sure when they will leave so I can get some sleep
The check in was fine once we found the desk a sign at the street would have been nice. The walk through the courtyard was a great opportunity to see the wonderful food options. We were surprised with a gift bag of snacks and drink vouchers thanks to our booking service. Our room was small but that was expected as it is a historic hotel. Outlets were plentiful but not conveniently located again expected and why I carry an extension cord. Our room included a walled patio that was cozy with loungers as well as a table and chairs where we enjoyed our snacks and our own Happy Hour. We enjoyed a wonderful dinner in the courtyard that was enhanced by the lighted fountain and the cooperative weather conditions. The bed was very comfortable and the hotel was quiet except for the occasional trains that reminded us of the movie My Cousin Vinny. The breakfast was very good and featured tamales that were average but were a nice gesture. We were glad that we experienced El Capitan and I'm sure we will be back.
