Peaceful, well equipped family house in beautiful part of Spain

After taking a few years away from the rental market this lovely, tranquil home in south west Spain is back for rent from September 2018. You will notice some of the reviews provided are taken from the house's old guest book, although 2019 guests have now provided some lovely positive reviews too.

Set on 1.5 acres of secluded mature gardens, this rural rustic family house is ideal for families or couples wanting to escape and enjoy a fantastic part of Andalusia. Placed in the small hamlet of Najara, Casa Sylvia is an attractive rustic house with bags of charm.

This part of Spain is very unspoilt, with rich history and tradition, and due to the amazing Atlantic climate and stunning beaches, it is where many Spanish people come for their own summer holidays.

The owners have furnished the house well for comfortable family living and is very well equipped. It is well provided for guests with children - a cot and a high chair are available. The newly refurbished pool is set within a large patio near to the house; there are ample loungers, tables and chairs as well as a BBQ for outdoor living. Outside the mature gardens are well tended by local couple Diego and Milagros, who can provide you with seasonal produce from the grounds.

The house is situated 10 mins from the stunning hilltop fortress town, Vejer de la Frontera with restaurants, bars, shops and other amenities. Many beaches are easily accessible, including 20 mins to El Palmar beach. Other beautiful beaches nearby include CaƱos, Conil de la,Frontera, La Barrosa, Cape Trafalgar, Zahora.

The house has a guest information book, including a wealth of knowledge about the local area, supermarkets, restaurants, beaches, amenities, emergency contacts, etc.

Winter break

Casa. Sylvia was exactly as the photos and was lovely and secluded, it has a huge secure garden and we could help ourselves to the fruit on the trees, which we all enjoyed. the house is very well equipped and has retained a lovely comfortable rustic feel. It was a bit unfortunate for us that this winter has been the wettest for a long time but we still managed to have days out and sit out on the terrace, all in all a very relaxing stay

Wonderful stay in a beautiful property

We had the most amazing stay in this beautiful villa. Jane was a great host and Diego the gardener was so friendly and welcoming, showing us the garden and giving us freshly picked fruit and veg. We hardly saw him but it was lovely when we did. The villa is beautiful with everything you need, the gardens are so peaceful to relax in with just the sounds of the countryside and the pool is a great size and although it was only April we were in it lots everyday. Although remote it is only 20min to the wonderful old town of Vejer with lots of restaurants, shops ans supermarkets and stunning beaches with restaurants just a bit further. There is a tiny shop 5min drive away in Cantarranas which sells most things and further supermarkets in Benalup. A great base to explore the area - we only wish we had been able to stay longer to explore more as well as have lazy days enjoying the villa. Weā€™ve already recommended it to loads of friends and hope to stay again.

A perfect holiday home in an amazing location

Casa Sylvia is the most perfect holiday home for a peaceful, relaxing getaway. Beautiful gardens, a perfect pool and a really homey feel to the whole place. Super close to Vejer and really easy to get to other places such as Cadiz and Seville. Brilliant communication from start to finish and such an amazing helpful house and area guide in the house, we read it everyday and it helped us plan our weeks out. Everything was perfect!

A great property with a fantastic garden

The house is set in a very quiet area but yet within a short distance from Vejer. It has a lot of personality and a nice "lived in" feeling but more than anything, we were impressed by the large outdoor area, a beautiful pool and not to forget, the most amazing caretakers. We strongly recommend this destination for anyone looking to explore the sensational Cadiz region but preferring to stay a little off the beaten track.

Peaceful, delightful villa, in a fantastic location

We stayed for 2 weeks at Casa Sylvia last month. After a long, tiring journey we arrived there with some trepidation (having read the previous 1* review, written after we had booked). Our worries were unfounded...what a slice of heaven! The villa was clean and spacious with little homely touches. The kitchen was well equipped and there were some pantry items and a few welcome items already in the fridge. There was also a huge box of homegrown vegetables and fruit, delicious. The private grounds were a delight. Pots of flowers everywhere and all manner of bushes, plants and climbers. Not to mention the orchard and vegetable plots. It was a pleasure to while away the hours reading, sunbathing and watching the spectacular show put on by the swallows over the pool. Of course the price for all this beauty is that it has to be tended and so Diego and Milagras quietly visit for a couple of hours daily, very early in the morning so as not to impose, often leaving more fresh produce. As you would expect for a rural villa, there were some ants and mosquitos, but we had come prepared for these. The village is really peaceful, no more than a few houses really and any noise came from the occasional dog bark or cockerel crowing. If you want to be within walking distance of shops and restaurants this is not the place for you. The surrounding area is mostly untouched by mass tourism, a real taste of Spanish culture. The white hilltop villages are very pretty and the people friendly, we particularly liked Vejer and Medina Sidonia. The coast is within easy reach with beaches for all tastes, wide sandy stretches, small coves, supervised, non supervised, naturist, it has them all. We enjoyed a wonderful walk from Cape Trafalgar along the beaches and cliff tops to Torre del Tajo. Also donā€™t miss the very large sand dune at Bolonia (you can visit the Roman remains here too). There were a few small niggles but these could either easily be addressed or were out of the control of the owner (some of the flyscreens were damaged therefore we couldnā€™t leave the windows open at night, there were no oven gloves & the internet was rather slow) We had a fabulous holiday and would definitely recommend Casa Sylvia to anyone wanting a beautiful rural retreat.

Wir (2 Familien Ć  4 Personen) haben den Aufenthalt sehr genossen. Tolles Haus mit ausreichend Platz fĆ¼r 8 Personen mit allem was man braucht. Es hat an nichts gefehlt. Weihnachten in Casa Sylvia

Wir haben Weihnachten und Silvester in Casa Sylvia verbracht und hatten eine schƶne Zeit. Alles war wie beschrieben und das Highlight war auch fĆ¼r uns die kleine Plantage. Soviel frischen Orangensaft mit Grapefruit haben wir wohl noch nie getrunken. Das GrundstĆ¼ck ist wirklich groƟzĆ¼gig und unsere Kinder konnten das ganze Arial zum Spielen nutzen. Gerne hƤtten wir auch den Pool genutzt, aber es ist verstƤndlich, dass dieser im Winter geschlossen ist. Diego mĆ¼ssen wir unbedingt auch positiv erwƤhnen. Wir mussten die ganze Zeit heizen und er hat uns unermĆ¼dlich Holz und AnzĆ¼ndmaterial herbei geschafft und war auch gerne mal fĆ¼r einen kleinen Plausch zu haben (so gut es eben mit nur kleinen Spanischkenntnissen unsererseits geht). Vielen Dank fĆ¼r den schƶnen Aufenthalt!

Hidden paradise / Ein Paradies!

Wunderbar rustikales Haus mit viel Platz fĆ¼r die Familie, gute Betten, gute Ausstattung, traumhafter riesiger Garten und top gepflegter sehr groƟer Pool. 3 Terassen, toller Grill, Dach begehbar. Sehr ruhig in der Natur gelegen, das Pferdeschnauben, der nƤchtliche Uhu und der morgendliche Hahn untermalen das aufs schƶnste. Die Lage ist ideal fĆ¼r Touren und einen schnellen Dip ins Meer, die nƤchsten StrƤnde sind allesamt extrem toll, mit schƶnen Strandbars und weiƟem Sand. Diego ist ein wahnsinnig freundlicher, hilfsbereiter Mensch und Jane stand per Mail jederzeit zur VerfĆ¼gung. Wir waren hier sehr glĆ¼cklich, vielen Dank! Matthias, Barbara, Charlotte, Maximilian.

Mooi verblijf in de streek

Mooie regio met veel activiteiten. Huisje is goed geequipeerd, alles is aanwezig en proper. Mooie zitplaatsen, mooie tuin en fantastisch zwembad. Ventilators aanwezig, maar geen airco. Lekkere vruchten in de tuin en rustige omgeving. Mooie stranden in de buurt met de auto te bezoeken en in Tarifa dolfijntocht en walvissen gespot. Topreis voor onze kinderen.

Quelques jours dans un petit coin de paradis

Maison et jardin incroyable, avec des orangers, des citronniers, des oliviers, des cactus, ... Toute la famille, adultes comme enfants/adolescents ont apprƩciƩs l'amƩnagement et le confort du gite et sa grande piscine. Diego le gardien est lƠ pour rƩpondre Ơ nos besoins. C'est idƩal pour se reposer et aller se promener dans les diffƩrentes villes et endroits de cette partie de l'Andalousie. Nous espƩrons pouvoir y revenir dans le futur.

El jardĆ­n y el huerco que rodean la propiedad son una maravilla, hay un olor a azahar y a flores que es muy agradable. La zona de piscina es super. La casa esta bien, sobre todo la cocina y el salĆ³n, buen lugar de encuentro. La carretera para acceder un poco descuidada, hay poca cobertura y el gps, a veces, se perdĆ­a. Pero a unos 10-12km de los pueblos y playas mĆ”s interesantes

We really enjoyed casa Sylvia. The layout of the house, the gardens, the location ... everything in one word "great". Diego as caretaker of the house and gardens was a great support. He continued to make sure that everything was to our liking. Oranges, mandarins, grapefruit .... the trees were full and we were allowed to pick what we wanted. We will definitely come back here in warmer periods.

Wunderschƶnes Haus mit allem was man fĆ¼r einen perfekten Urlaub braucht !

Wir waren 10 Tage im Casa Sylvia und haben den Aufenthalt dort sehr genossen. Das Haus ist mehr als ausreichend ausgestattet und die Lage perfekt. Zum Meer sind es ca 20 Min, nach CĆ”diz 1 Std, Vejer 15 Min. Highlight ist definitiv der groƟe Pool. FĆ¼r uns was es der beste Urlaub mit der richtigen Mischung aus Ruhe und Entspannung im Haus und Action am Meer. Oropax sollte man aber unbedingt mitbringen, die HƤhne und Hunde in der Nachbarschaft sind die ganze Nacht aktiv.

Casa muy recomendable

Es la segunda vez que venimos a esta casa y nos sigue pareciendo fantƔstica. EstƔ bien equipada, es tranquila, tiene todo lo necesario y es amplia para acoger a bastantes personas. El jardƭn lleno de plantas, flores, Ɣrboles frutales y hasta un huerto y la piscina lo hacen totalmente recomendable.
