Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
shabby chic with very good restaurant
The building has lots of character and history and the restaurant and communal sitting areas are beautiful. The outside could do with a good coat of paint on shutters, stonework cleaned and gardens better maintained ( entrance area good, gardens at back seen better days). Nothing a little tender loving care couldn't fix.
The nearby village of Dolo has historic interest and some smart bars but the immediate stretch either side of hotel is disappointing as many of the othe villas abandoned and in secpvere disrepair. Hoping some rejuvenation will happen as has started the other side of canal.
Very convenient for motorway to/ from Venice airport or as alternative for visiting the city.
Staff will try and do a lot to make you happy, but what makes a nice villa like this a wonderful stay is lacking. Simple service things like a "too short" shower curtain, bathroom mildew, dirty floors...or no beers or wine list available?
We loved this gorgeous country villa. I would go back in a heart beat. If you are into architecture, then stay here. The food and wine was fabulous. If you like to be treated like royalty, then you will enjoy yourself here. The villa was hosting a wedding on the weekend, as they have a very talented chef and a grand ballroom that hold about 100 people. . They have a Italian/English speaking receptionist by the name of Arianna who made our stay so helpful. You only have to take one bus 53E to and from Venice main bus, this was so easy for us. We have never taken buses before this trip. And we took the buses to Dolo and Stra for more shopping and the shoe museum. It is usually quiet at the villa and that was what we wanted for a few days. The grounds and atmosphere add to the relaxed feeling you have while here.
Hotel was beautiful and absolutely immaculate. Staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was lovely and the rooms were comfortable and well furnished.
Very clean villa located 30 minutes from Venice by bus which has a
Stop station in front of the vila. Bus schedule every 30 minutes and
Stop to the main entry in Venice. Bus ticket 3.50 euros per person
One way. We got free parking in the villa front yard and a very good european breakfast included in our room booking.
The room was very large, clean and stylish. Bathroom very clean and large.
The villa reception stuff was very polite and ready to help with any question we had. We enjoyed staying there.
This is a original old villa that has stayed in the family for generations. It's unpretentious almost like visiting your excentric uncle in his country villa beautiful venetian chandeliers. In order to get good wifi you must practically sit on the receptionist lap. The breakfast could be improved. A little fruit would help and bulk yogurt with lots of toppings! Fantastic dinners and general staff very friendly!
Wow! When we arrived we were impressed with the look of the hotel and garden. Even had a red carpet out, sadlt not for us. There was a local family wedding later that evening.
Our room, although not large was adequate with a large ensuite marble bathroom. All decorated in old Italian regency style. A huge buffet breakfast was supplied with lots of choices. Staff were friendly and helpful. Free wifi available.
We stayed 2 nights. It’s a very beautiful old villa. We would come back. Service wasn't great. But they tried hard. One only was able to speak English. Transportation information was only minimal, had to figure out the details our self. Don’t ask the stuff questions about Venice. They seem not to be prepared well for Venice tourists. They are probably making most of their business with weddings and Italian guests. When you figure it out, the bus connection to Venice is great. Hotel price was very good. Hotel is a very old villa. Was very nice too sleep in an old historic house. Beautiful garden/park. Breakfast was lots of sweet stuff, if you want something different, let them know, they will try to organize it for the next morning. If you want to eat out, there are two places nearby, but no one there speaks any English. Trust me, I mean “NO” English. We had 7 waiters standing around our boy to try to understand him. After a while one came to rescue us. He was able to talk very good German.
@hotel … prepare some information on paper for your guests who are visiting Venice. How to ride the bus, costs times, ferry option. How to get around in Venice. You will make your guests happier.
Typical European hotel- no pool, 2 beds pushed together to make a king which leaves a crack in the middle. The beds were very hard. The staff was pleasant but not all spoke English. They did offer a breakfast in the morning which was good but the cereal was stale. The shuttle offered to the airport was good but very expensive! 65 euros each way!
We chose this hotel as it was reasonably priced and close to Venice which we wanted to visit. In fact it was only half an hour away on the bus and the stops are right outside the hotel. The location of the hotel is in a very pleasent setting with the river running by across the road. There are plenty of other places to visit around the area if you weary from walking round Venice. Also there is plenty of parking with shade around the grounds.
The hotel itself is in need of a little TLC in places, mainly outside. The room we had was very comfortable. The staff were more than helpful and very pleasent and polite. The breakfast was a typical continental breakfast. However, there was a vast choice and you would not go hungry. Would I go back again - most defiantly.
The hotel was beautiful. our room was a little cramped for the six of us (two kids slept on the floor) but the AC worked great (AC! first time on our trip) and we all slept well. Just a 20 minute drive to Venice from here. The staff held breakfast for us even though we were a good 30 minutes after they normally close it off.
We stayed for 2 nights after arriving from a Cruise ending in Venice. This hotel is old and has seen better days but is a picture in the sunshine. Very nice gardens with an abandoned concrete swimming pool, ice house, well and flowering trees and borders. It overlooks the river and is a very peaceful area. The hotel has very high ceilings and is quite attractive with large paintings of Venice. The WiFi works in the entrance hall but not in our room (27). The A/C worked well in the room and we were there at a time in June which was very hot. If you get a room overlooking the front of the hotel on the first floor above the ground you might get working WiFi. They have a good restaurant but a little expensive although the hotel room rate was very reasonable.
This was my first trip to Venice Italy. I truly do not regret to have stayed in Villa Ducale. It is a beautiful place to stay, very comfortable rooms with everything you need. Their customer service was excellent in every aspect. Everyone was very friendly, helpful, and professional. Many Thanks!
