Bumpy start but a lovely home

There were no check-in instructions and we were never sent any. It took a very long time to get in touch with the owner that day and they didn’t realize we were coming even though we’d received a confirmation message weeks earlier. Two families with small children needing water and the bathroom. There was no key so they sent a family member to bring a key. After two hours of waiting at the house we found an unlocked window and got in. Then the guy who came with the key was mad that we were already in the house. It was a terrible check-in experience. The house itself is as described—a beautiful old farmhouse with plenty of room to spread out! The area did lose power which meant a hot evening since window screens were too damaged to open windows without letting lots of bugs in. Once the owner knew we were there communication with them was MUCH better for the remainder of the stay.

Cozy vacation

We had a wonderful stay at the farmhouse over Thanksgiving weekend. The house was spacious and easily accommodated two families. Everyone enjoyed the cozy fire in the fireplace (wood was provided), and we made full use of the large kitchen to cook all our meals. The dining table was perfect for our large group. We would definitely stay here again when visiting the area.

Wonderful visit

We were charmed by this farmhouse, which is located in the foothills of western NC. The owners have restored and updated it but kept many of the attributes that cannot be replaced or duplicated by modern construction, such as the beautiful wooden floors. The kitchen is big and updated and there are two porches to choose from if you want to sit outside. The beds were very comfortable and it was very quiet and peaceful at night. The grounds around the house are spacious with some nice old trees growing nearby. We would definitely stay here again!

We absolutely loved it!

The property was absolutely beautiful and accommodated our large family well. Our oldest son was getting married at Luna Trail Farm so it was close by for getting ready and setup for the wedding. We also held dinner for the wedding party after rehearsal with plenty of space . The corn hole boards were a nice surprise and the piano was a hit. We hope to stay again. Thank you so much for sharing such a lovely space.

Vacation

We enjoyed the place very much . It was quiet clean comfortable. However : It advertised as a 5 bedroom and it is only 4 bedrooms with a room off the living g room witha pull out sofa but that is not a private bedroom as was needed . If it had been children it would have been ok but for couples needing privacy it was not.. even in the description. It said it is 5 bedrooms ..misleading on that part. I would stay again.. but with the understanding it is a 4 bedroom with a pull out sofa.. Thank you

Great option for large groups staying in this area!

This is our second time staying at newberry manor during the annual pilot mountain to hanging rock race. We are two families, traveling with four kids ages 5-9, so the big kitchen for food prep, multiple living spaces downstairs, yard and both porches are perfect for our group to spread out and enjoy! This year we used the woodburning fireplace which is in the dining room and really enjoyed that option as it was storming all weekend. The house is very clean and the beds and bed linens are some of the best we’ve experienced in a rental, we all agreed! The owners are kind and stock the house very well, but we’ve found can be a little short/tough to get a hold of if you need them. Overall this place is a great find for the area, clean with lots of useable space for large groups!

Really nice but a little hard to figure out

The bedrooms, bathrooms, and living area were all as advertised. There was no instruction book, so figuring out the heaters required a call to the owners. The kitchen is well stocked with serving plates, but a set of measuring cups, spoons, and a liquid measure would be extremely helpful. Instructions on how to leave the property when leaving would be great. The house was very comfortable and plenty of linens and supplies. The porches were charming.

Wonderful vacation - great house

My family and I spent Thanksgiving week here, our second time staying at the property. We had a fantastic time. The location is beautiful (and so very quiet!). The house is great and has everything you need to get by without being too extravagant. Given its age, it has its quirks, but it's nothing that impacted us. Overall, it was a great experience and I hope to return in the near future.

Beautiful, spacious old home

This house has so much historic old home charm, and had plenty of space for our group of 4 adults and 4 kids to spread out. We loved the big front yard where the kids could throw the football (with a big front porch for sitting), the screened in porch in the back with a table and 4 chairs for the kids to eat dinner without worrying about bugs, and the large central dining table for all of us to enjoy a Saturday night steak dinner! There were multiple "living rooms" for people to hang out in, and the kitchen was so enormous we never felt cramped, even when all of us were cooking (and some snacking!) in there at one time. As other reviewers mentioned, there is no AC downstairs but this didn't prove to be an issue for us (in early October), and there are screen doors on both ends of the downstairs for a nice cross-breeze. We were disappointed to find out (after hearing that there was a fire pit we could use) that it was totally overgrown and full of plants and debris, located in full-sun in the afternoon, and with no chairs nearby (we could have brought some from the porch I guess?). We thought about cleaning it out to use, but in the end did not use the firepit... which was a bummer because the kids were really looking forward to that part. Otherwise, it was a completely lovely place to stay, and spotlessly clean! We'd stay here again for sure.

Farmhouse Family Fun ❤

Stayed with our two sons, their wives and our 3 granddaughters. We all loved the house. So roomy and everything we needed. Sitting on the front porch morning and night was so nice. Thinking of trying to make it back for a Thanksgiving or Christmas get together.

Great for families..

Overall this was a great stay, we loved the charm of this old Farmhouse, we had rain pretty much our entire stay, but that might have helped.. Maybe I misunderstood, but please be clear there is no central air downstairs, and summer in North Carolina is hot.. there is a window unit, but there either needs to be additional units added or central air added as there was what appeared to be the infrastructure for it.. So temperature aside (it is noted that upstairs where bedrooms are located does have central air) we loved the house, the kids were able to explore the buildings and play. I loved sitting on the porch and watching the rain. I will just list a few things I would think would take this place over the top to 5 stars.. 1. Ceiling fans would greatly help with comfort air flow. 2. I am fine with limited TV, as I like getting away from that for a bit, but the internet was horribly slow, that isn't a deal breaker b/c once again being "offline" is fine, but it was pretty bad. Overall I would stay here again just have a little better idea and I would plan a fall stay where heat isn't a big concern..
