good location. hotel under renovation, one of only two elevators down, in 14-story building; we took the stairs from 5. room small and minimally furnished, but clean.

There was no chair in my room- there was no room for a chair. the stairwell was dirty- i was on the 2nd floor so used that mostly. The maids cart was right outside my door the entire stay. It was noisy.

A-C wasn’t working in the room, so 81 degrees the whole night. Bed light didn’t work and no power outlets. Hole in the ceiling and couch, crack in the closet, some hairs on the bed, dirty under the bed, sheets looked old and not a fresh smell in the room. Glad the bathroom was fine.

I would never return. All dirty. The A/C did not work well. Housekeeper staff talking harshly in hallways and busting doors. The hotel without maintenance. The worst place I have stayed in NY.

This boutique hotel does not live up to the hype! I will start with the positives first! The Gallivant Hotel is conveniently located in Times Square, which makes it close to most attractions, Broadway theaters & Instagramable moments that tourist like to see. Here are the negatives. There’s not a vending machine, ice machine, or a microwave to warm up food. The elevator broke while I was there. It went down to one elevator for a whole hotel. People had long waits. The overnight front desk clerk was rude & wasn’t much help at all. The air/heating system in the room is controlled by the hotel so the thermostat in the room is null & void. When I checked in, it was hot so I tried to adjust the thermostat myself, but to no avail that didn’t work. I told the front desk. They send the engineering department to adjust my air and he adjusted to 60°. It was so cold during the night that I had to sleep with my clothes on and order to get comfortable. Other noticings, there was only one face towel & 2 large towels. There was not a “towel mat” for the wet floor. Trash was on the floor. So that lets me know the maid is not thoroughly cleaning the floor. Not enough plugs in the room to charge up devices, iwatches, or other things that require power. & not to mention, there’s a late check out fee of $25 dollars an hour & a $3.00 fee to hold your baggage after you check out. I brought my grievances to the manager on duty & she tried to right some of the wrongs by compensating me. Thank you

The room had a patched wall that hadn’t been painted, it was missing a smoke detector, the AC didn’t work, the room was 80 degrees with the AC on, the vent looked like it had never been cleaned, the shower had some bugs in the top left hand corner of the shower, and calls to the front desk went to voicemail.

It is THE worst hotel I ever stayed in my life. Unsanitary, dirty, mold everywhere, wind leaking in from windows, no room to use the bathroom, smell in the room, and no hair dryer. Overall, absolutely nasty hotel.

The room itself was fine. The reason I gave a poor rating is the elevator. Two very small elevators that go very slow. There was a line every day to go up to the room. I am not a fan of small spaces so I found myself having to wait sometimes 30 minutes before I could get on an elevator to go up to my room. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was ridiculous!.

Pros: The location is fantastic, right off of Broadway and Times Square, with a subway station nearby. The showers had great water pressure and heat. The room was clean and modern. Cons: The elevators consistently had issues over our 6-day stay. Only one reliably functioned, which caused us to have to go up five flights of stairs multiple times since we didn’t want to wait around 10 minutes in line. Three of the four ice machines were broken, and I had to go on a multi-floor scavenger hunt to find the one that (barely) functioned. The housekeeping staff did not leave the correct number of towels most days, so I had to make trips to the front desk each day to get more. Overall, not an amazing experience, but the location was so incredible for experiencing Manhattan that I would probably stay there again.

Only two small elevators, and the lines to use them took forever, as one was being used and out of commission due to the clearning crews taking up one elevator durin peak morning hours and evening hours. Counted 6 to 8 gnat sink flys in shower every morning during my stay.
