We planned the trip as a golf getaway. Unfortunately the area is under drought conditions. Also on our second day of playbwe had a foursome that refused to let anyone play through, they were the first group out, we were directly behind them, they held up the entire course. It turned into a more than 6 hour round.

Newly renovated room but was not ready for 4 pm arrival due to housekeeping issues. We didn’t get into room until 5 pm. Receptionist was very apologetic and comp us free breakfast. I also was not happy about the number of dogs at the property. There was a little happy one across the hall that barked when owner was gone. We have stayed there many times over the years and never experienced the issue with dogs.

it was absolutely beautiful. The property grounds are beautiful, well cared for. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. So much to do needed another few days we will def. return and try to make it yearly at least. Free sunday concert was a nice plus. Different options for meals, really like the Cantina. The rolling hills and golf course was just beautiful. The trolley ride was super convenient. we didnt drive the property at all. we got picked up and dropped off at the carriage house, gift shop, gardens, then over to the pool. The trolley driver was friendly and gave us some of the history. Hoping to make it back for festival of lights but summer vacay was a 10.

Beautiful grounds with breathtaking views. Lots of wildlife around. Room was nice. Pool area was very good. New restaurant on property had spectacular views and good food.

Anniversary getaway.
Anniversary trip away for two nights. Outdoor concerts on Sunday nights in the summer! We enjoyed the Beatles tribute group. Service was excellent! Upkeep of the grounds was also excellent. We toured the mansion museum and also glass museum. Ice cream shop was yummy!

I almost died during my stay at Oglebay, the negligence and unprofessionalism of this establishment is beyond mind blowing, it is down right dangerous and scary to think places like this are still allowed to invite the public there and put them at risk. The staff consist of the residence in the surrounding area of wheeling, mostly students at nearby schools. They are not trained or educated enough (most of them) to be calling themselves 5 star chefs or bartenders. The resort lacks everything but robes to be able to call themselves a resort. It is more like a summer camp with a golf course for creepy middle aged men or can't find a real club to allow them to golf. The park ranger is not even EMT certified, if you need him to unlock a door, it's the most climatic thing he will do all day. If you have a medical condition and it is aggravated or springs up during your stay, you will be kicked off the property because too many people have died on the property in all the years, so they do their best to prevent anymore. I hope your kids can swim, because the life guards/bartenders do not know how, even if they did, they're too busy talking to each other to pay attention to anyone in need of help or assistance. I will never return and am trying to get this place on the radar of safety, food and hospitality inspectors.

The resort property is gorgeous! Tame deer walk freely throughout which was special for the children to see. The entire staff was VERY friendly and helpful. I stayed in the cheapest room and it was clean & comfortable. The only negative I have is there is no refrigerator in the cheapest type room. I knew this ahead & brought cold drinks in a cooler.
