Large Cabin Sitting at 4,000 Feet Elevation

Welcome to Beech View Retreat!

Beech View Retreat is a large, beautiful 4BR/3BA log cabin that sits at over 4,000 feet in elevation with long-range views of Beech Mountain! Located in a quiet mountaintop area where the cabins are all spread out with privacy and plenty of elbow room. The property is generous with many mature trees, areas to walk, and a rolling landscape to explore.

The main level features an open great room, also open to the kitchen and dining, with wood floors, vaulted ceilings, and exposed beams. The great room has nice furniture, a gas log fireplace, as well as a large screen HD Smart TV. A wall of glass windows and doors exposes mountain views. The dining table seats 6 to 8 guests, plus 4 more in bar stools at the adjacent custom wood dining counter. The kitchen has stainless appliances, granite countertops, and is fully equipped to prepare and serve meals to groups of up to 12. The rear deck off the dining and living areas has mountain views, most prominently the top of Beech Mountain and surrounding peaks. There is a gas grill and a custom-crafted, live-edge dining counter with bar stool seating. On the side is an open-air deck with a picnic table.

Also on the main level is a central full bathroom with a tub/shower combo which serves both main level bedrooms. One main level bedroom has an HD Smart TV and a queen bed. The other main level bedroom has a queen bed, as well as a twin-over-twin bunk bed, and an HD Smart TV.

At the top of the stairs is an open loft with a desk for catching up on work, as well as a comfy sleeper chair-and-a-half which opens to a twin bed. The loft boasts the best long-range mountain views of any room in the house. The king master suite is upstairs and has a full ensuite bathroom, a small, electric fireplace, and a seating area, and HD Smart TV. The bed is positioned in such a way you look out at the mountain range as you lay in the bed.

Downstairs on the lower level features a large den and game room with a Foosball table, a corner, gas log fireplace, a large HD Smart TV, and comfy furniture with a queen sleeper sofa. Another king bedroom suite on the lower level has an ensuite bathroom with a jetted Jacuzzi-style tub, a separate shower, and a granite vanity with double sinks. Glass doors open from this bedroom onto the lower rear deck with bistro table and chairs, and the hot tub.

Nice log cabin

The cabin was beautiful and in a great location. However the home could have been cleaned better in relation to floors and much of the carpet and rugs looked very dated. The beds were not comfortable and could use a topper or a new mattress.

Don't Waste Your Money

First of all, the house wasn't marked very well. If you miss your cabin, you are backing down a gravel road with a cliff on one side. Very scary if you're not used to the roads. I definitely do not recommend trying to find the house in the dark. Most importantly, the house was filthy. There was a paper on the toilet seats showing that it had been sanitized, but the toilets had not been cleaned and there was hair all over the backs of the seats. The carpets were filthy and stained. There was an inch of dust and dirt on everything in the house. Anything that we used in the kitchen had to be thoroughly scrubbed before using and things were just thrown in any cabinet. Every cabinet was full of food crumbs and dirt. Considering the amount of the cleaning fee for a weekend stay, the house needs a thorough cleaning and organizing of the items in the cabinets. The hot tub is set to not exceed 99 degrees. If you looking to hang and relax on a cool night, 99 degrees is not very warm. The cabin is advertised as having a beautiful view of Beech Mountain. The surrounding trees are so high that you could not see anything. You can see Beech Mountain from the cloudy window on the 3rd floor if you look closely. With all the extra fees and taxes, the total came to almost 2 1/2 times the daily amount advertised. If we had a choice and had not been there for a family funeral, I would never ever pay this much for a dirty cabin in a not so desirable area.
