The power was out for many hours upon my arrival. While I know that this was not a fault of Chaminade I feel that the additional $40.00 resort fee that was charged should have been waived. I could not eat there or use any of the facilities. Had that been waived, I would have been happy where this way I have a bad taste in my mouth for the facility

The property seems miles from the hustle and bustle of Santa Cruz but is only a short drive to town. It was busy weekend at the resort, but it still felt very peacefull.

Though the property was beautiful, the room was far below average. The room was tiny and there was absolutely nothing special about it. It’s not worth the price. I’ve traveled pretty extensively and understand that room size isn’t everything, but this room was so incredibly disappointing. It made me want to do anything other than be in the room. If you’re traveling with your family and want something to do with the kids, I’d recommend the property. The pool is nice, the fire pits are lovely; but if you’re traveling as a couple, find something else.

Chaminade is full of potential, but the signs of poor maintenance and poorly run service is clear. The room walls were dented everywhere, misc. paint patches did not match the walls, the furniture is all extremely dated, as are the light fixtures. The bathroom door is a slider that creates no real privacy between the main room and the toilet, which is not convenient for a couple, let alone a family. The corridor walls are all damaged, as are the base boards. The pool area was decent, though a lack of supervision during the evenings allowed rowdy teens to overtake the area for smaller children. The cost of the food is over-priced for what it is. Outdoor dining furniture is cheap. This property could be astounding. Despite all of the negative things to say, we had a good time, but I would definitely look elsewhere if spending $500-$600 per night. We also looked online the night we arrived and saw the price of accommodations roughly half what we were charged only a day before online. The pavement is all in need of a slurry seal. Spend the time to properly update the rooms would be my recommendation.

While the hotel facilities are attractive, the rooms are dated and poorly equipped. And the $40 "resort fee" per night is ridiculous! If you reserve the King Suite Forest View (as I did) and want a patio, be sure to reserve the ground floor. The second floor suites have no balcony or patio.

I guess I had a different impression from the website, and perhaps had unrealistic expectations. It was okay, I liked the restaurant and everything else was just okay. I specifically requested a quiet room but I got one next to the pool that was never quiet during the day and there were plenty of other rooms that faced out of the property that would have been quieter. The gym/spa was okay too, just not amazing.

We took our family which includes small kids and adults as well as grandparents .There was so much to do and enjoy . We made s’moresin the firepit, ate in the beautiful restaurt The View and took walks around the gorgeous property. Next time we will enjoy the spa and try one of the hikes. It was a great weekend trip for our family
