We stayed here on our last evening in Croatia and wish our stay had been longer. The concierge provided a map and suggestions on a walking tour of Zagreb. We found his recommendation perfect to discover a wonderful city in a few hours. The hotel provided ultimate service and luxury. It was so lovely!

The elegant, well-maintained 100 year old Hotel Esplanade offers great comfort and many services. I did have some frustrations. I never found phone numbers for hotel services. I had to find the main number for the hotel and then was able to be connected. The afternoon I arrived, after a long drive, I would have enjoyed the publicized tea, but alas it was only for two and I was solo.

Clean but service not up to par

The check-in and check out process was entirely too slow and cumbersome. They need more staff to handle their volume of guests. This was the most frustrating part of our stay.The hotel is very clean but outdated. We enjoy traditional, European style accommodations but the hotel feels tired. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable

First time staying was great, but second time the shower had mildew and the TV would regularly freeze and need powered off. When I mentioned these issues at checkout the employee did not seem to care, saying something to the effect of that's too bad.

Luxury in Zagreb

What a beautiful hotel to stay at to finish our holiday to Europe. Rooms are very spacious and luxurious. We enjoyed the afternoon tea which was delicious. Come and enjoy this beautiful hotel!

We ended our Croatian trip in Zagreb and thoroughly enjoyed the old world charm that Hotel Esplanade offered. The property itself is gorgeous, warm and inviting. Like everywhere in Croatia, the staff were wonderful. And, you have plenty of shopping and dining options within walking distance. Overall, this was our favorite hotel and deserves 6 out of 5 stars.

The only thing I did not like was the hairdryer in the room, it was bolted to the drawer and was very difficult to use. Also no iron in the room. Everything else was wonderful…
