I loved my stay at Musketeer Lodge! The cottage-style rooms are set in beautiful gardens with towering trees offering plenty of shade. The old farmhouse with its wrap-around veranda is where breakfast and dinners are served - both very tasty I must add! Liz and her team are doing a fantastic job, making guests feel welcome and looked after. I will most definitely stay at Musketeer Lodge on my next visit to Bulawayo.
The roads leading to the hotel were very bad with huge potholes. It’s a beautiful hotel, especially the outside area, however rooms leave a lot to be desired. Shower door was about to fall out, on arrival the room and bedding not clean. The thrower had makeup stains, room full of insects, especially spiders. Seems like tap water needs filtration because of insects coming out, water pressure disappointing, hot water limited at night probably due to solar geysers.
I can recommend this lodge without any reservations. A lovely African garden setting with birds and many other animals all around you, comfortable (if ageing) rooms and excellent food and a well-stocked bar. It is a reasonable distance from the town, quiet, peaceful and relaxing. The staff are wonderful and so caring - nothing is too much trouble. Really great value for money and you cannot wish for a better base from which to explore Bulawayo and its surrounding. A great place also for a small business meeting!
