So here is my honest review of Riu palace los Americas . The great, good, bad and ugly Great- the staff and service are incredible. So many workers at your service. Very friendly without their hand out (you should tip) but you won’t be treated different. These folks work 14 hours a day 6 days a week. The resort and rooms are very clean (wife’s opinion and she has high standards). The food was very good as my expectations were low for all inclusive and I was pleasantly surprised. The chefs take pride in their work! Loved my cappuccino bar in the lobby. Good- nightly shows were adequate. The piano player in the front bar was awesome! WiFi worked well throughout the resort with the exception of the hallway leading to spa. Bad-the rooms are starting to age a bit and the mattress was a bit uncomfortable. Had to have a few things fixed while here. The atm machine fee is really high ( being cash for tips and such) Ugly- the gym was terrible . Many machines broken and rusted . Small area as well for free weights. Just very old stuff . It felt like a holiday inn gym from the 1980’s Hope this helps

Great property, amazing location. Beautiful pools with stunning views of the ocean. Buffett was good breakfast, lunch and dinner. Taco cart for lunch was our favourite. A la Carte restaurants were just ok. Enjoyed being able to go to the other Riu locations. Drinks are ok, wish they offered canned beer at pool and not just draft. . Rooms are roomy and comfortable. Overall good experience, would return.

The hotel itself is beautiful and very nice. Service is excellent as well as the staff being friendly and helpful. The junior suite was nice. The negatives are the TV reception, room wifi, and the food. All the channels had distorted picture which made watching movies unbearable. WiFi also was spotty unless you were in the lobby. Overall regarding food, the quality of the meats is poor: hamburger, steak, sandwich meats, fish, and even the pizzas are bad. Went to the Mexican restaurant on site and the enchiladas were horrible. I mean how can you screw up Mexican food in Cancun? I chose the all inclusive option thinking we’d have at least good food. But that was not the case. Next time I’m never going the all inclusive route again.
