We didn't know there were Studio cabins, we booked a cabin, when my husband and I arrived they said we got a Studio, we ended up with less than half of a cabin! They didn't even advertise studio cabins. There was no room to put our suitcases or anything, won't stay there ever again!
I have totally fallen in love with this place. The cottages are adorable and so cozy, they are heated by a little fireplace controlled via thermostat which was so charming. The property is also right next door to the start of the Johnston canyon trail which is beautiful. The restaurant and cafe is also lovely and the staff are some of the happiest and friendliest of all the places we have been in Canada, especially the Chilean waiter who we unfortunately didn’t catch the name of. Thank you all for such a fantastic stay, I will recommend this place to everyone I know.

We were hiking Johnston Canyon Trails. This resort is convenient, due to its location to the trails (right beside the trail heads). The office staff were friendly and check-in/out was ultra easy. We also are at their Black Swift Bistro for dinner. Their staff was friendly and super helpful and accommodating. My sister travelling with us is Celiac. The staff made sure her meal was contaminant free. Prices are slightly high, but most restaurants in Banff National Park are higher. For the quality of the food, and the assurance it was contaminant free, it was well worth it. The cabin could use some love (water damage to ceiling cabin 15A), as well as a deeper clean. Room had coffee maker and coffee making supplies, but very weak flavorless coffee. Bed was comfortable and firm. Shower/washroom was clean and well stocked. Overall we would stay here again, if we could get better rates.
We had a five night stay and really enjoyed this property. Loved being so close to the Johnston Canyon trail where we enjoyed the hike and then watched others enjoying it. The restaurant was so convenient with good options. Our cabin was comfortable, including the bed and seating area. The fireplace was relaxing on the cool evenings. We enjoyed our stay and will be back.
Situatedin the deep forest but right on a main trail head of a very popular spot, it’s very convenient location to have best of both worlds. The drive to Banff downtown is about 30 minutes. You can either take the scenic and winding Bow Valley Parkway or TransCanadian Highway 1A. I suggest during the daylight hours you can take BV Parkway and in the darkness take TC Hwy 1A as it is pitch dark. Even if you take TC1A you’ll have to exit at Castle Mountain junction and take the scenic BV Parkway for about 6 minutes to reach the Johnston Canyon Lodge and bungalows. It was both thrilling and beautiful to stay here. We stayed in a Bungalow that four 4, it was well equipped with coffee maker, and we requested a microwave. The sofabed at first was difficult to figure out how to line into a bed, but once we did that on our own, the bed was very comfortable. The other one was a queen bed. We used the fireplace as it got cold at night. This is Aug 9/10, 2024. Hot water is sufficient for 4 people. We are ably connect to the Network. The market cafe has excellent coffee, which is probably a highlight!. We were able to just head out walking from our bungalow to the trail head around 6.45am. There were already people walking. We reached the Lower Falls around 7.30am, and there were already 15-20 people in line for the cave entrance to the Lower Falls. But the line moved fast. Just the fact that we could wake up and walk to the trail itself is worth the stay in this beautiful place.
Location was great. Luckily the weather wasn’t too hot as no A/C In rooms. Clean and quaint. Great for hiking the canyon first thing in the morning. Recommend bringing food and alcohol as restaurant can get packed. Nice personnel.
Great place, management and staff very helpful and accommodating

Overall I had an enjoyable night staying in one of the smaller cabins. It was just myself and my dog so it was perfect that we had cabin 13A in the back corner of the property. My door was only steps from the path of the canyon trail (walk out the door, go through a short wooded path and end up mid-way on the trail, totally avoiding the crowded front entrance). Parking was easy. The little gift shop and takeout food counter was perfect for grabbing some sandwiches and treats. The only complaint is that there is an attic/crawl space in the cabin's ceiling and there was a family of squirrels nesting in it. So all night I heard scratching, scurrying and squeaking. Luckily my dog was so tired from hiking all day that he didn't care, and I can sleep through anything lol. I did inform the front desk when I checked out the next morning, so hopefully maintenance was able to remove the critters humanely and safely relocate them! Otherwise no complaints, we enjoyed our one night stay and would definitely go back again!
