Wish It Was A Better Experience
Sadly there was extensive construction. The lobby, restaurant and pool were not only completely unavailable but under extensive construction. The hotel did post a note and they were forthcoming when I called and asked questions. They also did offer to upgrade us to a room with a fireplace because of the construction.
But sadly the experience and service was still severely diminished by the construction. The first two staff members we encountered on our first day did not even greet us and were not friendly at all. The next two staff members we encountered on the second day were much friendlier. But first impressions do matter.
Considering the construction severely impacted the appearance of the hotel (it felt more like a nicer 2.5 star hotel than a 4 star). I am very surprised the hotel didn’t think to offer anyone who stayed at the hotel at least one free night on a return trip or a free dinner at the hotel once remodeled (the fireplace was okay but couldn’t make up for the experience especially for the price we paid). If it was my hotel I would never want to leave guests with such an impression.
In fact I would have closed the hotel down if needed such extensive construction.
That said, we love the town of Paso Robles and we hoped to fall in love with La Bellasera and come back, but my husband and I agree considering the experience, the service and the fact that hotels seems unwilling to make better concessions for the condition of the hotel, we would not return.
