Apart from the history and location, the Hotel is in terrible condition. Rooms are absolutely filthy and look like they have never seen a vacuum cleaner. Dead bugs on the windowsills, layers of dust on the non-functional blinds, gross bathrooms. There are several better options in town - I would pick another.
For being a historic hotel we were pleased by how clean our room was! It was very cosey and no sign of ghosts. It also smelled nice and clean. The bed was relatively comfy but a little lumpy. The biggest downside was the loud music they pump through outside speakers. I will say though, that they turned off the music at night when we requested they do so. The other downer was the breakfast situation or lack there of. There is no breakfast included. There is a restaurant on-site but the first morning when we ate there it took a long time for our food to make it to us. Simple requests the waitress was unable to bring us. When it came time to pay we noticed the waitress was the only person on staff! She was bussing, waiting, cashier AND COOK! We went to the front desk and mentioned this and they said yeah someone called out. Ummm... I would think they were 3 people short. After that we ate Pop Tarts the next couple mornings. So would suggest bringing your own breakfast. Overall it was still pretty cool staying in what once was Seth Bullocks hotel.
Great historic location. Authenticity was augmented by lots of flies and wasps in the room. Kill them all one day and there was more the next. Just like 1876.
A fun historic place to stay in Deadwood. Itis small but service was good. There are bigger and newer places but the smaller place was nice. We did see some dead bugs in the window. Parking is free, but across the street.
Upgraded to a suite which was amazing. The hotel is right on main street with free parking in back of the hotel. The room was roomy and beautiful. The hotel itself is beautiful. We did the ghost tour and the tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and interesting. We would definitely stay again.
We thought the hotel was great when we arrived and our overnight stay was excellent. We were very disappointed in the restaurant staff in the morning. We were looking for a convenient good breakfast and read where the restaurant serves great meals. We went to the restaurant and the staff was very unfriendly and uncooperative in seating us and serving breakfast. They told us that they may not be able to serve us breakfast and we would have to wait 45 minutes before they could get to our orders. There were open seats in the restaurant and it appeared they didn’t want to serve us. We won’t be staying there again.
