2024 stay for Appalachian Challenge Academy 🎓
Pool area was entirely to hot, made it hard to breathe. As I am handicapped a walk in ramp would have been easier for me. My shower in my assessable room was nice, but a little slippery. I wore water shoes. One of my daughters in the other room slipped and fell due to the slippery tub. We asked for 4 extra towels and the worker told my daughter we could only have 2 as to many towels had been stolen. It would have been nice to have access to a dryer to dry our wet towels and bathing suits. Staff was friendly. A nice play area would have been awesome for my grand daughter. My t.v. was staticky in my assessable room, but fine in the other room. All in all it was a nice visit. You should have assessable suits for large families like mine. Then I wouldn't have had to rent 2 rooms.

Our room just smelled of mildew and cigarettes. The room just didn’t feel clean. The lady that worked at the front desk was super sweet and accommodating. We only stayed one night so we were able to tough it out.

Good spot to stay for wheeling at Black Mountain
Overall pretty good, room was a little musty. They still have the same broken TV in the breakfast room that tries to give you a seizure, I’d love to see that thing replaced. But overall I’ll be back, mainly because it’s the best option in Harlan

It was an average hotel room, nothing special. Nice to have the mini fridge but mattresses were wonky and pillows lumpy. Shower was nice and the continental breakfast was better than average. Staff were all excellent.

Hidden Gem!
Staff was so friendly and helpful, probably the most accommodating hotel we have stayed at. Breakfast all pre packaged but still good. A toaster would have been nice, but that’s just personal preference:) . Super nice front desk host, even when my pup busted in on her. Thank you again so much. This trip was a first outing after nearly a year long hospital stay .
