We were given the wrong room, not the superior room with balcony that I reserved and paid for.
Our room had a stained carpet and more importantly, a dirty soiled couch that stained my gown when I sat on it. This is a stain that is now permanent!
I put a bathroom towel on the wet couch and was horrified to see it soaked with a brown liquid.
Our request to be moved to another room, (the superior room we had was reserved) was denied. Apparently they were fully booked.
Imagine our thoughts during that long unpleasant night. What was that substance on that couch?!
Additionally, front office person stated that housekeeping was provided only every second day despite daily housekeeping listed on their website).
The large garbage can outside the building overflowing with trash. Managers were not available and could not be reached when I expressed my concerns and they still have not responded to my calls/requests.
The front office person and the maintenance personnel were sympathetic to our concerns though they appeared to have no real authority nor could they reach the owner/managers. We were offered a small discount that it no way compensated for our discomfort or covered the cost of my ruined gown.
We reserved for 3 nights and checked out after the first.
The Port Augusta is a disgustingly dirty hotel with terrible customer service. Stay at your own risk!
