We emailed the hotel a few days before our arrival to warn them we would be arriving at about 10 pm. We recieved a reply stating that was fine; our room would be kept until midnight.
On arrival at 10 pm we were informed that there was no room for us that night. We could have a room the following night but, in the meantime, we would have to spend the first night at a different hotel. After some waiting around, we were taken there by a porter. The room was tiny, triangular space; very basic - not even a chair to sit on. The breakfast was of poor quality. We were then kept waiting for a porter to come from the other hotel to walk us and our 2 small cases to the original hotel - a whole hour wasted! There we were finally allocated a room for the rest of our stay. Considering that we had booked AND paid for our holiday several months previously, I cannot understand why we had no room available for the first night but, also, why we were told that, if we arrived after midnight, our room would not have been kept - it had already been paid for!
We will not be returning to that hotel and, indeed will think twice how we make our bookings in the future.
Not a good start to our holiday. The rest was OK.
