About this property

Authentic Log Cabin at Kaluna Farm Retreat

Come enjoy the good life in my ancestors’ authentic 1800s log cabin! This is a unique chance to live simple and close to the Earth, while still having modern creature comforts. The cabin sits above our animal pasture, yet offers plenty of privacy. If you need an easy and close escape from the city that offers a tranquil setting and slower pace...this is the place! A new roof and internet/wifi access are cabin enhancements for 2022. The wood stove is no longer functional.

We are a Morganic farm, meaning we go beyond organic cert standards to manage our whole property, no chemicals have been sprayed in the last twenty years. The owners transformed this space from a family junkyard back in the mid-90s. It is a magical realm of creeks and wonderful trees, plants, and old cabins. We like to host workshops and other events along the lines of health and farming. When you arrive, we like to invite our guests to meet our spring, where we get delicious drinking water. There is a fire pit and charcoal grill available for guest use. Guests should plan ahead and bring their own charcoal and firewood. Wood may be available for purchase on-site. Please confirm firewood availability with hosts.

Our gardens are open to your exploration, we just ask you to stay on paths and do not walk in our garden beds, the microbes thank you. We like to meet you upon arrival, unless we are in town or tied up with farm chores. Our movements are dynamic, we will be coming and going. We encourage you to reach out when you see us, or text us any questions or concerns. We are close to many wonderful outdoor areas and vineyards. The Talking Rock Nature Preserve is home to 10+ miles of hiking/mountain biking trails and is located in our neighborhood. This is a good jump off point for Carter's lake, the Cohutta Wilderness, and many hiking and biking trails.

This cabin has a bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped with a mini fridge, gas stove/oven, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, as well as basic cookware and dinnerware.

Using GPS to get to the farm can be tricky. Please note the following: From 515 North, continue through Jasper towards Ellijay. Continue forward past Biguns BBQ (on your right) and the Scenic View. Our road, Old Whitestone Road East, is the FIRST left once you have passed the scenic view. The road quickly turns to gravel. You will pass two gated driveways on your right. The THIRD driveway on the right, marked with a white mailbox and a white street sign for Cedar Springs Hollow is our driveway. You will also see a large sign for Kaluna Farm Retreat…turn right here. Continue forward down the hill. Once you see an old log cabin, find a place to park and you have arrived.

We have additional spaces available for rent: Kaluna's Bamboo Roost Organic Farm Overlook (sleeps two couples), Kaluna's Treehouse Sanctuary (sleeps one couple) and Kaluna’s Wooden Yurt (sleeps up to 8 guests).
A kitchen is outfitted with a refrigerator, an oven, and a stovetop. Conveniences include a microwave and a coffee/tea maker.
Guests will find features like onsite parking.

Nice cabin, out of the way, with everything you need!
A nice, tiny cabin, about 10 miles from downtown Ellijay. It has everything you need. Hiking and biking are close, within a mile of the property. Talking Rock Nature Preserve has good hiking and mountain biking trails. If you want to get away from the city, this is a great place to stay.

Very cozy accommodations! The property was nice and the owners were very friendly. A great way to unplug and enjoy the outdoors. Very cute and was honestly very roomy for two considering the age of the cabin!!

Best Stay Ever
As my 5 yo stated, this was the best stay ever! It was a perfect getaway for a daddy/ daughter getaway. Safe, adventurous, clean, quiet, private. We adventured through the woods, roasted hot dogs over the fire pit, made s’more, made friends with the dogs and cats on the property (domestic and friendly). For a 5 yo girl to be off the technology and plugged into the surroundings was exactly what I was looking for. Can’t wait to return!

A Rustic Retreat
A charming place tucked away amongst the hills and valleys south of Ellijay but just a short drive to Historic Ellijay or the newer Ellijay with all its mod conveniences (Stores, fast foods and home builders). Dotted around the acreage, one can choose from staying in a yurt, a log cabin or even a tree house! I stayed in the cabin, which is a wonderfully rustic place where the smell of wood still pervades. It is equipped with A/C, fans or a wood burning stove as needed, while outside is a small fire pit with a table and seating. Staying in the cabin, one can look from the windows and see the livestock the hosts keep there. The washroom is a separate building which I found to be clean and comfortable. The farmstead provides a number of pathways to stroll along and streams to dip your toes in. At this time of year (Spring) the air seemed perfumed by the flowers and trees in bloom. You will find the hosts most hospitable and will readily share with you the history of the homestead as well as the vast array of vegetables and herbs grown there.
