First impressions is a beautiful hotel in an idyllic setting by the canal, surrounded by trees and very peaceful. That's the good stuff!
We arrived at 3.30pm (check in is listed on their website and Expedia as from 3pm) to be told, by a man who couldn't even be bothered to say hello, that check in wasn't until 5pm (in French, no English spoken, again not as per their website). We had been travelling all day, in 30dgs of heat on motorcycles and that wasn't What we wanted to hear. When I pointed out the details on the booking and offered to wait (with a coffee) whilst he sorted a room, he reluctantly called the two chambermaids, interrupting their game of Candy Crush, and the room was prepared, something that hadn't been touched since the last guest left!
The accommodation at first glance seemed impressive. A seating area with dining table and chairs, a kitchen with a shower room and loo off it, made up downstairs and an attic conversation reached via a very tight spiral staircase gave onto a room with two double beds. The worst, most uncomfortable beds I have every not slept on.
We had dinner in the restaurant (that's another review) and breakfast was served there as well. A paltry offering costing £8
Despite having been asked to settle the bill the evening before with a female staff member, the 'host' chased us onto the car park accused Us of not paying and demanded we wait whilst he tried to track down his colleague, her mistake. and not even a sorry. Do not go there.!!
