Very good

Avoid! Place was run down and dirty especially the kitchen with all the utensils etc dirty and flies everywhere. Had to check in at the motel next door for our keys but not informed of this in advance. It seems like a place with seasonal workers living long term and not in good conditions. This place needs to decide if it’s for local workforce or tourists because it needs a higher standard for tourism.
Interesting, funky setting, with a Maori morae (or facsimile) on the grounds. Good internet, nice to have pool access. Useful to have access to the full kitchen and meet other travelers, although we preferred to have a private room for 3.
Fantastic receptionist, but confusing co-management with hotel next door. We had a "triple" room with a shared kitchen / living area. Shared areas were OK, but room was poorly maintained and a bit dingy.

Liked: Staff & service, amenities
Bed was comfy, common area was great. Only downside is probally the shower pressure and crumbs on the bench upon arrival. Other than that we enjoyed our stay
Checked in late due to working overtime, quick phone call to the office, she gladly checked me in, glad to see someone with a friendly personality after a long day.
Very courteous and helpful.
Happy to stay here every time I'm in Kaitaia
Nga mihi to all the staff there

Rattled my cage!
Your website indicated my bill would be $102; yet I was charged $400.
I found it an embarrassing position to be in.
My laptop went missing; after requesting a police report be filed, the laptop was returned the next day , when I was out.
The New Manageress, Vicky, was upset about It and send the police report as if from her Home.
The Reception Staff Member on Saturday admitted she had been having a nap when O tried to collect my luggage.
I think they have staffing issues.
I would like a refund.

Staff all were so polite and friendly and helpful with information
Great location. We has a motel style room that was very clean, very comfortable beds, excellent bed linen and towels. The common room and kitchen was clean and well equipped. The staff were very friendly and happy to help at all times.
Very clean and tidy, over the road from a lovely restaurant. Family rooms were away from the hussle and bustle and the marae was pretty cool! Very helpful and friendly reception staff.

Convenient, but loud
The hostel was very convenient for me, but the night I stayed, there were a lot of people there and it was loud as a result because my room was next to the social area.
This was good value for a night stay. The kitchen area was well stocked and large enough space for several users. Convenient for the Harrisons Cape Reinga tour.
