THE LIVE ALOHA SUITE is a tastefully designed condo by Stannard Architects, from international design firm, Olson Sundberg. It is a reflection of the tropics, well appointed, fresh, clean and lovingly cared for by the owners. This gem has a full view—without the view blocking big wall. The design features maple cabinets, granite counters, beautiful Italian floor tiles, Polynesian furniture, ambiance lighting, island-style woodwork, a comforting fully tiled shower, and built-in casework, in the historical Hawaiian style. The island artwork is authentic and the unit has more than sufficient necessities. Why pay 2-3 times—or way more—for a hotel in the luxury resort areas when Sugar Beach Resort and the Live Aloha Suite have all the amenities you likely want! Enjoy the sprit of aloha in this condo, as do so many repeat guests.

It is rare to live on a Maui beach. Not many condominium buildings afford that luxury nor will there be allowed any others. You’ll appreciate that when you cast open the floor to ceiling sliding glass doors and take in tropical Maui. The soothing ocean waves and marvelous sunrises and sunsets remind you that you indeed are in a very special place. Your Hawaiian experience is enhanced by the tropical décor offset by the palm trees’ gentle sway from the trade winds. This is a prime location condominium unit. It’s closer to the ocean than most at the resort. It does not have the extended lanai wall, as do so many SBR condos. No extended wall means the unobstructed view is beautiful. The classically beautiful floor tile extends from the living area through the lanai for the feeling of an expanded living area. You are truly on the beach on Maui with all of the sights and smells you would expect. Sit on your 4th floor private lanai and watch the Hawaiian lifestyle unfold before you. Enjoy the outrigger club races, snorkeling, beach walks, swimming, kite boarders, stand up paddlers, eFoils, sea turtles and during the season breaching whales. Or, sit in the air-conditioned living room to enjoy the same scene! This unit is truly “front and center”, yet amazingly private. One feels as if in a beach house without neighbors, owing in part to the hypnotic waves, tranquil setting and beautiful interiors. An added bonus is that this gem is close to the elevators, stairwell and sanitary debris drop, so there are no long walks down the corridor.

Kihei is known for enjoying Maui’s better weather. Sugar Beach Resort (SBR) is located north of Kihei Town for that “get away from it all” feeling. Yet it is close enough to Kihei and Wailea to sample their fares—entertainment, restaurants, and their fine beaches. All beaches in Hawaii belong to everyone and access is required. A scenic drive to West Maui is only a twenty-minute drive away. Neighboring Kealia Pond is a national refuge, which exhibits native flora and fauna. SBR is situated in a unique and rare setting.

Sugar Beach Resort is a "green-minded" community. A significant portion of our electricity is generated from rooftop solar panels. Our beautiful grounds are watered from an on-site well to conserve the precious Hawaiian water. Our pools are heated by solar thermal energy. You might not notice the difference, but they are there because we love the wonder of natural Hawaii and strive to keep it that way! By the way, please keep in mind that as of October 1, 2022 Maui will prohibit the use of non-mineral sunscreens while in the ocean and fines could apply. This law has been passed to protect the reefs.

Location location location
It's all about location at Sugar Beach, and like all the beach-facing units there, it doesn't get more "on the beach" than this. The unit itself had a well-equipped kitchen overall, though no dedicated oven which we hadn't realized (there is a toaster oven & microwave with oven function). Otherwise, it has some unique custom woodwork as per the pics. The furniture could use updates in some areas, but is accurate to the pictures. Beach stuff was provided, which is always appreciated.Overall a good stay and would consider again.

Great 1BR condo right on the beach at Sugar Beach Resort. Directly overlooks the bay with great views and tranquility from the balcony. Close to Kihei and Wailea, which has everything you need. Not far from the airport and other points of interest. Great pool and basically private beach onsite. The condo has everything you need and the bed was very comfortable. Great for two people (couples). Although, it can sleep four, it may be very cramped IMO. Overall, great vacation spot for me and my wife. We wanted a relaxing vacation and Maui and the resort delivered that expectation.

Lovely view of the bay with ocean waves and beautiful sunsets while sitting on the balconey. Steps from the beach, owners have 2 beach chairs and umbrella along with towels. So easy to go relax on Sugar Beach! Pool, deli on site. Not far from grocery store to get food for the onsite grill. Bed is very comfortable and water pressure is strong in the shower.

This is an attractive, comfortable and well equipped unit with a fabulous view overlooking the beach and ocean. The resort where it is located is also very enjoyable with a nice outdoor pool, hot tub and adjacent lawn overlooking the ocean, with plenty of lounge chairs, and BBQ facilities. The bed was comfortable and the air conditioning was good. The balcony had space to eat and lounge as well as outdoor equipment for use, such as beach chairs, umbrella and boogie boards. I would definitely rent Doug's place again.

Perfect Beach Getaway
This was hands down the best place we have stayed for a beach vacation. We would sit on the lanai and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ocean and beautiful beach. Or walk down a few flights of stairs and be on the beach for a walk swim or snorkeling in seconds. Saw a sea turtle and a few other creatures while snorkeling off the beach. Went for many long relaxing walks on the beach. I e of our favorite holidays to date. Located in a very central location so things like the Haleakalā volcano and road to Hana were only a reasonable drive away. Easy parking and beautifully maintained resort.

Best Vacation Ever
My family returned to Sugar Beach Resort after more than 20 years. The resort is very well maintained, We love the central location making it convenient to visit all parts of the island. I enjoyed long morning walks along the quiet beach. The condo has amazing views. We had morning coffee and evening cocktails on the lanai every day. It is updated and clean and is well stocked with all the kitchen provisions needed, along with beach chairs, umbrellas, and boogie boards. Looking forward to returning!

Beautiful location and view!
This property is exactly as advertised. Centrally located in Sugar Beach, a 14 minute drive to beautiful Kihei beaches. The condo was well kept and stocked with basics, like oil and seasonings. The owner was responsive and super helpful throughout our stay. One note, the beach is beautiful but you may need water shoes to swim further out, as it gets rocky once you’re past your waist. I’d definitely stay at this location again!

This apartment truly had everything we needed and more. The well-appointed kitchen was a delight, equipped with all the essentials. The view from the balcony was awesome and the sound of the waves soothed us to sleep. We were grateful to have central a/c, including in the bedroom, which appears to be rare in the islands here. It was a great place to stay for our first trip to Maui.

The condo was very attractive and reflected the online pictures. We had an issue with the TV and support person Austin arrived within 2 hrs connected with cable co in time to watch the playoffs. Very helpful and informative. View was great. Only issue was the rocks and coral on the sand and wading into the ocean difficult made it difficult to swim in the ocean. Also very windy first 2 days. We usually stay in Wailea not as windy. The unit, owner and management company all 5 stars!

Marvelous Maui Vacay Getaway!
We absolutely loved this amazing condo! The Live Aloha interior was charming and truly felt Hawaiian and welcoming. It was clean with plenty of towels, boogie boards, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, cooler and ice packs. All the comforts of home: full kitchen, mic, washer/dryer, great bed/pillows. The view is spectacular!Wonderful sand beach below, pool and hot tub. Fabulous place to base out of to see the sights. Very safe location. Doug was a superb host, answering questions and always replying promptly. We highly recommend this property. If you're reading this and want great Maui memories in a wonderful setting...this is the place for you! Mahalo

Ideal Spot for Maui
What you see in the description plays: Why pay double/triple for a hotel just to get the same thing at this condo?! We LOVED it and would rebook here in a heartbeat. The location is off the beaten tourist path, but still close to everything and that makes you feel the benefits of "getting away" with all of the conveniences of a town. We went to a big hotel on Oahu after staying here and missed the quiet, closeness to shore, and pace. The bed was incredibly comfortable and kitchen well-outfitted. If you're celebrating anything in Maui, go here. Tips: Coconut's Fish Cafe (Fish Tacos), the ABC Store is a full convenience store (not just alcohol like it is in some states), make reservations for the sunrise at Haleakala months in advance if possible (go see sunset if you can't get a spot), the GyPSy Guide app is wonderful for the Road to Hana, and the Luau at the Waldorf was pricey but enjoyable.

Lovely place with a beautiful beach view
It was a lovely room with everything you could want for a stay in paradise. Well outfitted condo with a fabulous view of the beach and maui sunsets. Well maintained pool with a hot tub. Six bbq grills available by the pool for guests. Room is 30 feet from the elevator - in and out is a breeze. King size bed in room (a little on the soft side for our tastes - but that's a personal issue).

What a GREAT place to stay!
And the owner is awesome, too! 🙂 This was our first time staying on Maui so we didn't have much to go on but we knew we wanted to be in the middle of the island so that all destinations were in reach and North Kihei is perfect for that! Road to Hana, Lahaina, Haleakala, Maui Ocean Center, the harbor, box stores, zip lining, and Turtle Town were all easy drives from here. It's also walking distance to the Sugar Beach Bake Shop and Ululani's Shave Ice--both should be daily treats! (Unfortunately, we missed a few days but not many during our 10-day stay! =) The condo itself is nicely appointed with a great 4th floor view of the beach and ocean. We loved staying here so much that we decided to postpone our departure by a few days but, unfortunately, this condo was only available for one of those days so we found another last-minute property for our last three days. We were worried about how to get food from this place to the new place but Doug rescued us! Because this condo wasn't rented for the day we checked out, he made it possible for us to stay in his home until 3:30 that afternoon so we could take everything straight to our new property! Thanks so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity, Doug! We will most definitely try to book your home again for our next Maui trip. 😀 One request: please talk to your property management company about providing a coffee grinder--they refused to provide one during our stay. Whole beans are MUCH better and fresher than grounds and what better place to get whole been coffee than in Hawaii! 😁 Thanks again!
