I can’t believe I’m reviewing an airport hotel! Usually just a “convenience stay” due to a late or early flight. Final stop on our 4 week Greece trip and with an arrival the night before from Crete and a 6:30am flight back to Chicago the next morning, decided to spend a few extra dollars to stay “next to the Athens airport”. First of all, the distance from the terminal to the Sofitel is less than 60 seconds, super convenient. We were greeted before we even got to the check in counter and process was super fast and efficient. Arrived about 4:00pm and after dropping bags in spacious room, headed to rooftop bar for wine. Great service and elegant dining, but decided we wanted salmon which was offered in the lobby restaurant. Wow, were we surprised by the quality and unique preparation, excellent!!!! Plus had the grilled vegetables which were also perfect following a very fresh salad. This was after 4 weeks of spoiling ourselves from Athens to several islands and the last week in Crete. Meal was amazing! Prices? Yes, they were higher than anything else on our entire trip, but well worth the relaxation of walking 60 seconds back to the terminal the next day for our early am flight. The extra few dollars were well worth it and the service and decor helped ease the pain of a few dollars. Safe travels!

The Athens Sofitel Airport hotel was a wonderful surprise. The rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. The beds were amazing. We ate at the restaurant off the lobby for lunch. The menu had Greek specialties as well as something for every taste. Dinner at Jenny’s and the rooftop bar was excellent. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel while waiting for your flights. The only regret was not getting a massage in the spa!

This was a quick stop for us for an early flight and the hotel was perfect. It couldn’t be closer to the airport! The hotel was priced appropriately but the restaurant is crazy expensive!!! We had soup, a pizza, shared by 2 people with 2 drinks and it was $140 USD. That’s ridiculous!
