Good hotel at a good price with pool and free tea/coffee and water. The downsize was that they were having renovations done so very noisy with building work, banging and drilling and my room was near street and reception area so noisy with cars and people.

Great location, good for a cheap, easy stop over.
Stayed here on my first night. Was easy, good location, friendly staff. Bed and room were clean. Bathroom was clean but had mould, that damp bali smell and needed an update BUT it was FINE :) also returned and stayed again on my last night as its near the airport and final touristy shopping markets.. it is a good choice for a cheap stay in a secure place. Our online deal included a massage for free (usually $8) and it was THE BEST massage that I had in Bali.. I was secretly suprised by this but my sisters was also amazing and I would definitly return for a massage!!!!
The bathroom smelled like mothballs and it was nauseating. The other guests were annoyingly loud and there was no effort from the hotel to remind the other guests that they me disturbing other guests.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Facilities: Basic, Small cloudy pool; Cleanliness: Lacking, Four days no room clean;
Spa upstairs is good.
Me and my partner were getting bitten by bed bugs all night, the aircon didn't work proper we were caved in and sweaty we slept out on the pool chairs till 4am then got our room changed, we had the worst sleep and we canceled the rest of the nights stay and demanded refuned and they refused so I had to call the website I Booked it from and sort it out myself and wait at the hotel half My day in bali trying to get a refund!
The room is smaller than I thought but it was all I needed as I was just sleeping there and out all day. It had somewhere to put your clothes, a mirror and a nice little t.v with lots of channels. The air conditioning was brilliant as it is a very hot country. The toilet and shower are in the same room and it gets a bit damp in there as not much ventilation. Staff cleaned the hotel everyday and was never dirty. Had a nice pool, hardly anyone went in in there so pretty much had it to myself for the whole 8 days I stayed. They serve breakfast if you wanted, was ok. Lastly it had the spa on the rooftop, was pretty as it overlooks Kuta. Only had one massage as it is more expensive than other places. Overall the hotel was very nice and I would stay there again for the price I paid.

The hotel S8
conveniently located near to the kuta beach. stayed there for 5 days, not every day with room cleaning service though room cleaning request was hanged on the door knob. room is not sound proof at time was awaken up by someone talking outside the room in the middle of the night. Overall, the hotel is acceptable with the prevailing room rate.
This is a cheap hotel in a central location easy walk to the beach. Broken tiles in the bathroom, stained sheets. Staff could not find my reservation and tried to get me to go to a nearby massage parlor. Hotel is on a noisy road, and I was woken by someone practicing guitar in the reception early in the morning, so don't expect a good sleep.
i stay in this hotel around 1 week. it has a great location , friendly staff, and clean rooms. even though rooms are small but its really great compare to how much you are paying.
a nice hotel with friendly helpful staff close to all the main attractions of Kuta

HANDY HOTEL
This hotel was very cheap and was good value for the price paid. The staff were helpful and friendly and the facilities quite reasonable although you only seemed to be able to get Wi-Fi at reception. It was about a seven minute walk to the beach and even closer to the bars and restaurants. You couldn't really ask for more.It also had a nice little pool out the back for a cooling dip that seemed well maintained. I didn't try the food so dont know what it was like but am sure it was fine like the rest of the Hotel.
I stayed in this hotel for two weeks, it was very good value for what you get. I stayed in the deluxe room which was actually the cheapest, it had a comfy bed, lcd tv, kettle and free bottled water, but there was no fridge or seating area at all. I didnt mind too much as it was just me and i ate outside the hotel BUT it would have been good to have somewhere to keep food and drinks cold. I know the superior room has a fridge and also a couch, so if you really want those things i would go for the more expensive room. The only real negative was the noise level, as the walls seemed quite thin and the hallways echoed quite a bit. Also, you need to ask specifically to have your room cleaned and hand in your key at reception, but that's not really a negative. All in all it was a good stay, the staff are friendly and will gladly take you on site seeing tours around the island (i had pre-booked tours so didn't find this out until the last day as i was leaving). Would recommend s8 as a cheap hotel for people who aren't too fussy :)
Staff was very good, the room was fine. Wifi worked well, the room was small but very clean. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was functional. Only complaint was in the early morning, the hot water seemed to be off. But I'm sure had I called down, it would have been corrected at once.
Better than the first time. Upgrade completed nicely. Swimming pool completed (was small but lovely). No more steep wooden staircase, replaced with a lift. Staffs were amazing as always. If there's an option to buy a room.. I'll buy it in a heartbeat :)
This hotel has great rooms with working air conditioning, wireless internet and cable tv. It is situated really close to Kuta beach and the famous poppies lane. It is close to market shopping, the matahari mall and restaurants. Would highly recommend this accommodation to people travelling to Bali.

Will definitely use again.
My spouse & I are very active so our need is simply a quiet clean room and soft bed. Hotel S8 was perfect for us. Our room was clean and the service was friendly. It was well lit and we felt quite secure. BTW Kuta seems to be safer than the average U.S. city.
The location was perfect. A block away from busy Legian St so the rooms were quiet yet we were walking distance from all the shops, restaurants, night clubs on Legian. Hotel S8 does not have its own bar/restaurant. The tiny pool (under construction) is the only amenity that this hotel has. We didn't mind, since the Mini-Mart, laundry, restaurant, tour activity, massage shops were the Hotel's neighbors.
Part of our morning routine was walking 2 blocks down to the open produce market and picking up tropical fruits for the day. The vendors close up by 9 am though. Kuta beach is a very pleasant 5 minute stroll with plenty of shops/eateries/pubs along the way.
You could pay 20 times the cost of this Hotel for one right on the beach with all internal amenities. We prefer to interact to experience Kuta as much as we can. Hotel S8 definitely met our needs.
Me and my wife came to Kuta on the 29/8/2013 and we stayed at room 312 which is at the top level. The front desk was nice person. The "hostel", pardon me for the word hostel as I found that the overall environment of this place looks more like a hostel than a hotel. The place is still under renovation for building its pool. Before you reach your room you will need to walk through a very steep stairway (somewhere around 80 degree steep, make sure you are not drunk or else you might fall yourself way down). When I first enter the room, the overall presentation of the room suits for its price. Everything is neat in order. If you wish to use the plate / cutlery prepared by the hotel, my suggestion would be go to the mini mart beside the hotel to buy a dish washing detergent to wash it before you use it as it looks kinda awful. For the bathroom, the design is very very weird as it was just a mirror separated toilet in the middle of the room. We tried to shower, the shower head is not working properly, manage to have water coming out but its small volume that you might need to bare with and most important remember to cover your toilet door with the shower curtain if you do not wish your room to be flooded by water. No breakfast prepared by the hotel. No room cleaning service unless requested.
The pro of this hotel is that its near to the happening places around the town which is within 10-15 mins of walking distance. Overall, I would say the hotel is worth for the price of stay.
