The heat and humidity in Japan is oppressive. It is even worse in a small room with no air conditioning.
The air conditioning unit in my room was not functioning. It created a small hot room that was nearly impossible to sleep in. I had to crack the door to let air in. When I raised this with staff, they said they would fix it.
They did not.
When I asked for a discount or some kind of recompense for the deeply unpleasant experience they said it would be impossible.
I really don’t recommend you stay at this hotel. Unless you’re trying to lose 20lb in water weight and wake up dehydrated every morning.

The all-day free tea and spa water with coffee and tasty flavored breads for a free snack in the morning made for a great way to cool off in the summer heat and start the day. Also, the laundry was a nice convenience for longer stays. The hotel is 3 quick blocks from the Karasuma subway station (2 stops from the main Kyoto station) and an easy walk to major shopping opportunities (Pokemon center, Karasuma dori shops, etc.), and steps from several bus stops to hit most of the sightseeing in the city.
The staff were very helpful with absolutely everything. Rooms were great. The location of this Hotel was also very convenient, being close to many historical sites. Loved my stay and hope to come back next time.
The hotel is new, clean and very nicely designed. It has some traditional elements, so it feels call. The breakfast is simple but good quality. There aren’t a lot of nice dining options in the area, so having breakfast in the hotel is very convenient.
Although it is a bit of walk from the hotel to the subway station ( like 10 mins), but we would stay there again.
Hotel's location are close to Shijo station and Nishiki market, so always an options to get lunch in the Nishiki market and plenty Izakaya open till late for dinner plus konbini around them. They provide plenty amenities like hair brush, tooth brush and pyjama. Room design & furniture looks modern and new.
My only complain perhaps that pillow is way too hard and very uncomfortable for me, got neck pain because of it. Since there's 2 pillow each bed, appreciate if its different in hardness.
This hotel is not very old, so it presents really well. Reception were very helpful. I was leaving for country Japan, so had my large bag taken to Tokyo. Such a great service! The location was excellent too!
Crowded and busy, but that’s because it is a good place to stay. In a quiet neighborhood but convenient for catching buses, accessible to other areas. The rooms were fine, clean, quiet. The staff was very nice and helpful though a little overworked with so many customers
This hotel is very clean. It is a newer hotel that is tastefully designed in Japanese aesthetics. They have used high end materials throughout and the shower and Toto toilet are exceptional quality. All this for a low to medium price. Great value.
Super unique room with a tree in the middle of the room. The only hotel we stretch our check out time to thr max to enjoy the room. Bathroom is a little too dark.
Hotel receptionists were not accommodating at all. Most of them are rude and did not speak English well. Property is old and small. Would never stay at any agora facility again
Like the modern design. Would be better if it has onsite onsenz

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Everything about the hotel was excellent, except the beds. They are described as “twin”, which a reasonable person would consider suitable for two people, however they are only a single size. Perhaps that’s a Japan thing but it’s not clear when booking. Even though we booked a room for 2 x adults and 2 x children, and paid an “additional guest fee”, the bedding was inadequate.
This hotel should be rated 5star. It is impeccably clean. The staff are so caring and helpful. The bento box breakfast as great. Great location to everything! This is by far one of the best hotels I have ever stayed in and I have travelled the world and stayed in many! Great value for the luxury experience you are getting
