DO NOT trust the photos of the property. The only thing good about The Lift hotel is the location & friendly staff. The lobby & eating area is not good. I got the Historic room. It was nothing like the photos. It was tiny, it smelled & the ceiling was so low in the room I couldn’t stand up unless I was walking out the door, in the bathroom or in the immediate area surrounding the bed. I couldn’t even stay there-I checked out right away and paid for another hotel. I lost my money but it was worth it.

Disappointed but ok

This hotel advertises as a “boutique” but it feels run down and nothing special. When we arrived, we were assaulted by the smell of Frebreeze cleaning product. There was a faint hint of garbage smell. The front desk felt run down and there’s no lobby seating, just a generic dining room for breakfast. When we arrived in our room it was nice, it was clean, but smelled it smelled like dirty socks. It was very strong and very unpleasant. We asked for a new room and I fortunately we were downgraded. The only reason I booked the room is that it had windows overlooking the street. Instead of going thru the hassle of getting refunded the difference for the room, I opted for breakfasts for free. Breakfast was decent. Coffee mediocre. The main desk person was very nice and helpful. The night guy was ok. Not rude but not high level hospitality either. Overall, the hotel felt like a 2 star hotel and not worth the $270 a night I paid. But it’s in a great location, in the heart of the tourist area.

the hotel and staff presented an amazing first impression of my weeklong trip to Portugal. The rooms had considerable personality complimented by cleanliness and comfort. For such a historical building it was hard not to notice the attention to detail in its upkeep. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. I would absolutely book these accommodations again.

This is an awesome hotel in a great location. Easy to access many Lisbon attractions by walking, and easy for pick up/drop off. Staff was amazing and the room was beautiful.
