Great hotel, family friendly
Highly recommend the hotel, extensive breakfast buffet options which were great. Staff are friendly and go above and beyond with service. Hotel decor had a Christmas theme and it was very pretty. The only downside is that it’s far away from south beach however easily accessible by the citi bikes to rent. 15 mins relax bike ride will get you there

Property was average, the staff was awful booked for a king bed ended up with a twin queen bed room. The front desk promised that the next day it would get fixed and we’ll get put in a king bed room that was a lie and they kept denying it. Also asked for a two glasses of wine for the room was denied the employees just kept saying yes and did not give an explanation due to poor English. Would not stay again at this report rather go to the Palms next poor.

Unfriendly front desk staff. Very loud guests that were shouting in the hallways late at night. Bathrooms were leaky, running toilets and hot water was hit or miss. Will not stay again at RIU and stick to Marriott properties.

First- it takes a lot for me to leave a negative review as a business owner I know the impact it can make but this needs to be addressed. This hotel was not cheap and we were very disappointed in the Riu. The room smelled like sewage the whole time. They were fixing the ceiling outside our room and drilling and hammering beginning at 7am every day.we weren’t told of any construction when we booked( maybe there was an accident, not sure) We notified the staff that the smell and noise was concerning and they sent someone up a couple hours later to “check” the room. He came in opened the bathroom door and looked in and said he will be back but never returned. There were several things broken in the room ( glass on table, lock on patio etc. This was our first stay at Riu resorts and we won’t ever stay with this company again.

Hot water was an issue and so was the non working toilet upon arrival it would not flush. Not worth the 400 night price, nicer places to stay. Breakfast buffet was nice. Front desk person was rude when I complained about the water problem. This place gets 1 star.

The worst check-in experience by far. We first arrived the hotel early at 10:45am, not expecting to have our room ready, we were told room will be ready early afternoon. (Schedule check in time was 3pm). We returned to hotel at 2:45pm was told the rooms are not ready, but their “guarantee” check in time is no later than 3pm we waited for another half hour not getting our room until 3:20pm. No apologies were made. Even they are the ones telling me “guarantee” 3pm. They told me too bad, room is not ready, human make mistake, nothing we can do about it. 8 customers between 2:45 and 3:15 checked in for their room right away. How is my room not ready when I told them I am ready in the morning but not getting my room until 3:20, while other customer just walked in and check in get their room right away? After we get into our room, there’s a really loud and continuous noise, I called the front desk two times, nobody came to our room to check.

Mediocre - but thats what they are aiming for
My wife and I stayed here for 1 night as we needed a cheap overnight stay in the area. This is a mid level basic family holiday hotel which caters for a lot of people at once - so there are certain draw backs like noise, number of people, mass catering etc. Its not on par with the bigger/better hotels on the beach but has a good location and served us well. Room was massive. Shower good. Finishings a bit sterile. Not as comfortbale as we'd have liked
