This place is so awesome. It is cosy and comfy and spacious. The breakfast area is open with hummingbird feeders and a place for other birds to visit. The room was big and I had a big patio space that was sheltered with a wonderful breeze
15/10 would recommend
Rustic place with lots of charm. The bed was very comfortable and the shower was hot. The couple who run the place are incredible, very kind and helpful. The breakfast was lovely and their laundry service is very good and fast! The location could not be bette! The one thing I would suggest is if you are a light sleeper asks for a room that faces the back as our room faced the street and there was a loud party in front until 6 am which didn’t let us sleep despite our ear plugs. I know the owner tried to take are of it but really that’s our of his control. Overall we had a lovely stay, would stay again and would absolutely recommend.
At the age of 70 my husband and I had our first experience with our student granddaughter in a hostal. It was fun. Granddaughter fluent in Spanish, I am not, but the family who were our hosts were kind, patient, and very accommodating . The breakfast was Ecuador cuisine and adequate, but the morning fruit drinks were wonderful. My suggestion, take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. The roosters are very vocal all night, which has no bearing on the hostal, just a tip. We are glad we had this adventure with our granddaughter.
My girlfriend and I stayed at Biohostal Mindo for two nights in mid-October.
Overall, the place was great.
The bed was comfortable, both the shower and the sink had hot water (although the shower temperature could fluctuate unexpectedly) and there was plenty of space to store clothes. The room had some dirt on the floor and there were a handful of bugs and spiders hanging out but what do you expect for the middle of the jungle? There was also neither heat nor a fan but the temperatures during our stay made those unnecessary.
Our reservation included a tasty breakfast of fruit, crepes, eggs and bread with coffee, tea and juice.
On the flip side, the WiFi was very poor throughout our stay and wasn't working at all on our last day. The front desk attendant also gave us incorrect information about when the breakfast with birds began and the laundry service was slow.
Overall, I'd strongly recommend Biohostal Mindo for budget-conscious travelers looking for something a step above a typical hostel.
Wonderful experience at the Bio Hostal Cloud Forest! Luis and his staff could not have been more gracious and helpful. The rooms were large, bathrooms clean and tidy. Excellent breakfast included in rate. Hummingbirds are on the terrace, the rural life with the chickens are out of a movie. yu
The only thing that keeps me from a 5 star overall rating was the erratic wifi. However there are several places in the town where the signal was great. We would definitely recommend, and will return if the opportunity presents.
The hotel is rustic but kept very clean. Rooms were made up and cleaned every day and the staff very helpful. The arranged for an excellent guide to go bird watching, gondoling and zip lining. We were able to maximize our time during our short stay in Mindo. The hotel is a 5 minute walk from the centre of town. Also 5 minutes from the bus station Breakfast was in clouded and very ample - cereal, fruit, yougurt, eggs, toast and coffee tea and juice.

Better places for the same money
Bio hostal is basic backpacker accommodation. Our room14 was large and had plenty of Windows. It was tuck at the back of the building. You had to walk through an unfinished area to get to it. Breakfast. Also basic except that there was granola and fruit as well as eggs and bread. It poured raj. The 48 hours we were there. Many of the attractions,; butterfly garden and orchid garden were closed as a result. The hummingbird park was awesome but it was in a sheltered area.
We overall loved our stay here, however, just keep in mind that being in a rainforest setting, the beds were damp the entire time. There were bugs everywhere to since open windows were the only way to get airflow. We did, however, love the breakfast, but most of all loved waking up to hummingbirds right outside our door every morning. It was amazing!! The owner was very helpful and spoke English and helped us book tickets for things we wanted to see. We loved Mindo!!
The night that we stayed there were not too many people. We were there with family and friends and each had individual rooms. Our room was beautiful and I loved the bathroom. The water was hot and the WIFI worked in the lobby/dining area which by the way is very quaint and welcoming. The staff was great, very welcoming and willing to help however they could. The breakfasts were very speedy and very good. Our room also had a terrace that overlooked the cloud forest. It is also located right next to a buterfly/hummingbird/orchid tour that we have done many times on our visits to Mindo. They can also book ziplining and other tours if you would like them to. I highly recommend this hostal, you won't be disappointed!

Our stay was good, but it was Abi in reception who made it great. She was wonderfully helpful and even arranged our transfer from the bus terminal in Quito to our hotel in Quito.
Extremely friendly people running this place. Would stay there another time :)
