Exceptional experience at quality accommodations. Staff show pride in their upkeep of the property and are more than willing to provide information to get you situated and point you in the right direction of local attractions. After a long drive really appreciated the convenience of quality dining options. Wonderful time!
Small space heater, if cold temperatures very problematic. Fireplace is for ambiance only, no good for heat and very smoky. Don’t expect much WiFi so print out anything you need
Affordable, quaint location in Big Sur - easy access to state parks and local restaurants. Had wifi in conference center and 1 bar of cell service in our cottage (very limited in this area)
Extremely convenient location, nearby several state parks, Big Sur, and Carmel by the sea. Would recommend to others.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
These cabins are so cute and perfect for getting off the grid for a while. There’s no WiFi in the cabins, but the facility does have free internet at their centrally located conference center. The cabins themselves are spacious, located in a scenic area of the forest, and just a few minutes walk away from different hiking trails (beginner, intermediate, and advanced). If you have dietary restrictions (eg vegan, dairy free, allergies, etc) you won’t be able to eat much at the lodge restaurant, but there are plenty of allergy/vegan friendly places just down the road (no need to leave the mountain). All in all, a wonderful trip and stay!
Very nice, especially for the price. Nice restaurant, nice coffee/desert bar, nice room. Beautiful trails (1/2 mi, 2 mi, 4 mi) starting near the lodge.
Magical atmosphere brought to life by courteous staff who clearly have a passion for their work. Every effort was made to accommodate guests and ensure their satisfaction with the lodging. Despite the cold time of year the heaters and the fireplace ensured we were cozy and comfortable throughout the night. In the morning, several trails were just steps away from us!
We booked a long room for 4 nights during the Thanksgiving week. The room is simple and clean, the beds are very comfortable. Our room has an old style gas heater, but it kept the room warm. There is a small balcony facing the redwood trees.
The only place that has internet is the pool lounge. But we are here for relaxation so it is not an issue. There is a very nice fireplace in the main reception area with game tables.
The staff are nice. We had a great stay here.
It's important to note that due to the closure of PCH, and the other weather issues the area has had to endure, that Big Sur is struggling on a lot of levels. The Lodge was severely understaffed and the staff that was there was surly and defensive when approached. It made the stay difficult to manage. Again, I understand the issues the area is dealing with, however this was one of the busiest weeks of they year so there should've been better prep on the part of the management. Mason was helpful but we are still waiting to hear back from him (or anyone at the lodge) about the adjustment made to the last night of our stay. Please let us know if you read this. Praying that Big Sur recovers fully and we'll continue to visit and support as this is a very special place to my family and I.
Everything was great except the heater was really noisy when it clicked on and off. We realized we were better off heating the room and then turning it off to sleep. Which wouldn't have worked if it was really cold all night.

Disliked: Staff & service
Extremely poor customer service.
We stayed one night. The hotel was prepaid and booked on Hotels.com. But, we were charged again but the hotel for the room. Three calls to the hotel later and still no return call from the manager regarding the over charge. Very dissatisfied!
