This hotel presents a true Viking flavor. From the architecture to the attention to detail on the grounds, it’s much more than just a place to sleep. Although the rooms are basic in design, the true experience comes from just roaming around the lobby, comfort area and especially the mind blowing Viking themed breakfast dining room. It is otherworldly! A great way to kick off your arrival to Iceland.
We had a nice stay at this hotel. It was quiet and clean, but the rooms were a bit small. The water smelled like sulfur but it was safe to drink and shower in.

The hot water was not available for our three night stay.
Was a cool place to stay. Room was nice. Front desk staff was great at helping me with multiple transportation questions! Thank you!
My only complaint with the room was the duvet cover. It was oddly textured and felt like being wrapped in berber carpet. I didn't like it. But it was survivable and we had a lovely time.
HOWEVER, the location of the hotel does make it difficult and expensive to get around to the attractions and in to Reykjavik. This is NOT the hotels fault of course. Just an awareness for you because it caused some problems for us
We loved loved loved this Viking cottage. Up the ladder loft for the kids. Downstairs twins for us. Clean and warm. Breakfast was great- waffles for the kids and oatmeal for the adults. Close to airport and downtown. We stayed here 3 of our 5 nights.
The free breakfast was great, but the rooms were smaller than we expected. Both of our luggages couldn't be opened at the same time due to the limited space. The pictures on the website are a bit deceiving, and the rooms were also a little dated. The hotel served its purpose, we were out most of the time taking road trips. We'd probably return if we specifically book a bigger room.
Very interesting little place, really fun theme that feels more in reverence than exploitative. The room is small but has many beds for a larger group. Nice evening restaurant on site and tasty free breakfast selection. Would definitely stay again if I found my way back there.
The Viking Hotel is situated on Hafnarfjörður harbour. The reception was very friendly. The single room was small but comfortable. The hotel is in good condition. I had a couple of beers and an Eric the Red Pizza in the Fjaran Restaurant across the street. The staff were very friendly and the food and drink were excellent. I was unable to experience breakfast in the hotel due to an early flight from Keflavik Airport which is only 35 minutes from the hotel. I would recommend the Viking Hotel for easrly fliers.
