Hotels in this same area are very expensive (€300 - €400) per night. Hotels by the airport were much more affordable at €120 - €180 per night.
Hotel Munich City was literally right across the street from the Schwanthalerhöhe mall, so the location was perfect! The hotel includes free Wi-Fi and breakfast too so that was nice. The hotel was a mix of modern with old world charm. The lobby was very small, but they also had a bar adjacent to the check in counter. The bar gave off a club vibe, warm low lights and neon signs. The hotel rooms consisted of several buildings. Behind the main one, there is a good-sized garden courtyard with wrought iron tables and chairs as well as some greenery, and beyond that, two additional buildings with more guest rooms.
The rooms are simple and clean. Four beds, a small table, a mini-fridge, hair dryer, and bathroom/WC in one. Immediately we noticed that there is no air conditioning in these rooms. There are windows that can be opened, but we had a room overlooking the courtyard so opening that would also let in the noise. Luckily for us, it was a cool night, so we decided to join the drinking crowd in courtyard for a couple of hours. By 11pm, most had turned in for the evening. The beds were about a medium firmness and so were the pillows. Inside the bathroom, they had a towel warming/drying rack which was nice. We set this on before we went drinking and had some nice warm towels for our bedtime shower.
