We stayed for 6 nights with a large group, ranging from 7-10 people, including children, teens and adults. The hotel is clean, quiet in the middle of the night, but can be noisy late-night and early morning if you’re on the first floor and have people walking around upstairs. There was free coffee available all day in the lobby, hot and cold water, ice and a microwave but other than that no little perks. There are no microwaves in the rooms. The two outdoor pools are chilly and could use a few repairs but the kids enjoyed them. The hot tub outside was small but nice. We didn’t use the indoor pool or hot tub.
There are a few routes to walk to the beach from the hotel, ranging from 10-20 minutes, all of which require significant uphill walking on the way back since the hotel is at the top of the hill on Main Street. We managed it with a heavy beach wagon but it was definitely a workout. Beach lots can fill up early (before 9) if you don’t want to walk and parking for the day is $40. There is also a trolley and a golf cart taxi if you don’t mind paying for a ride to the beach ($5/adult, $3/child).
The hotel is also a short walk through town, about ten minutes, to the Marginal Way entrance on Beach Street. The hotel location is very convenient to restaurants and shops and there is also a trolley stop right outside.
We enjoyed our stay and would definitely book at JH again.
