Red Flag #1, when we arrived to check in the people in front of us were complaining that there were already people in their room, in the bed and vodka bottles all around (they never actually left but were checked out which means the room isn’t cleaned inbetween guests or they would’ve noticed people were still there).
Red Flag#2 the homeless gentleman that was asking us for $5 for “milk” came in after us to use the washroom
Red Flag#3, we had to do a series of specific actions in order to open the door lock since it didn’t work well. The automatic door lock was partially smashed and had a screw crudely holding part of the handle together. We had to get another room since we were unable to open the door.
We should’ve left at that point but it was late and didn’t have the energy to look for another hotel. The hallways stunk of cigarette smoke and the room looked like something you’d see in a horror movie where people are murdered. The carpet was gross so we wouldn’t take our shoes off. We sat on the bed and sunk down so we could feel the boxspring. There was no cushion left and the springs were digging into us. We ended up sleeping in our clothes on top of the bed, wearing our shoes; there was no way we were getting into those sheets.
This place should not be able to sell rooms in this condition. Complete nightmare but at least we’ll have a good story on how we survived a night in the murder hotel.
