Hotel room looked unfinished and with filler visible on the walls (had not had paint touch ups), stains in the bathroom, 2 mugs with chips all along the rim, and 1 dirty spoon, black and orange mould in the grouting in the shower, stain that looked like blood on the tiles near the toilet. There were holes in the wall. Big punch style holes, not nails. (Pictures attached)
My Safe was locked open, and there was a distinct lack of plugs - one set by the kettle in the adjacent room (which didn't have an aircon unit, and a lamp to light the whole room, which required the second plug), or behind the fridge in a corner of the main room. The adjacent room had curtains which were not blackout, and the privacy net was not separately railed, so you couldn't fully close the darker curtains.
The staff were not friendly, and I tried to use the tea/coffee at the machine one afternoon and was demanded my hotel room number as I wasn't able to use this machine without paying.
When raising, I was told if I wasn't happy I could have an early check out and book nearby (at my own expense - Hotels.com offered the same), but was assured by the hotel staff that the hotel never did part refunds.
They assured me they are currently undergoing renovation (and the communal was is recently repainted), but I feel the rooms require some more love and attention first and foremost.
It is a cheaper hotel, but you get what you pay for. You'd pay less and have a friendlier experience in a hostel.
