We arrived at the hotel at approximately 10:00 PM, and the following morning commenced pleasantly. We awoke early, at 5:30 AM, to enjoy sightseeing within the hotel premises and had breakfast at 6:30 AM before venturing out to explore San Antonio. My husband, a veteran, has a droopy eyelid that becomes more pronounced as the day progresses, particularly when he is fatigued. After spending some time relaxing by the pool, we proceeded to the hotel bar, where we ordered a beer and took a moment to reflect on our day.
I subsequently requested a second beer for my husband; however, the bartender, Angela, declined our order. When I inquired about the reason for this refusal, she stated that my husband appeared to have consumed sufficient alcohol and that she had the right to refuse service. She then asked us to leave the bar. This unexpected directive was shocking, as we sensed that the surrounding patrons were equally perplexed. I felt a profound sense of humiliation and a lack of welcome, prompting an immediate desire to exit the premises. It was as though I had been admonished, leading me to tears, which my husband attempted to soothe as we stepped outside to gather ourselves and seek fresh air. The hotel was beautiful, but it only took one staff member to ruin it.
