My stay at Exe San Jose Center was ok. It has a great location and is walking distance to bars, restaurants and shops, However, we weren't too thrilled about the room as it was pretty low (height-wise), dark, and smelled of cigarettes. The staff however was friendly and was helpful in giving us recommendations.

Same food everymorning, service is sucks and they wont refund your money even if you cancelled 30 days in advance. Not recommend this hotel at all!

Pros; -Receptionist was lovely and very helpful, offered to order us food in Spanish as we arrived very late. -Great safe central Parking -Comfy bed -Nice shower Cons; - No windows - No fresh air - Not a particularly nice part of town

I would recommend this hotel for a stay in downtown San Jose. It was clean with spacious rooms, helpful staff, secure underground parking. A good location to walk to many downtown attractions and restaurants.

We were able to walk anywhere downtown, as the location is perfect to see all historical and cultural areas downtown. The rooms very clean and quiet. Breakfast was great and the environment was very welcoming. I'd recommend anyone headed to San Jose to stay there!

the Room was clean but no window. The staff was friendly and helpful. Room wasn’t ready at check in at 2pm. But nice that check out wasn’t til 12. The complimentary breakfast was delicious. Fresh local fruits, baked goods, eggs etc. close to the centro where al lithe museums are. Would stay here again

LIKED THE HELPFUL ATTITUDE OF FRONT DESK STAFF. LIKED THE LARGE COMFORTABLE BEDS AND LARGE ROOM SIZE. DID NOT LIKE THAT OUR ASSIGNED ROOM (#309) HAD 2 WINDOWS FACING ONTO A STAIRWELL AND A HALLWAY, BUT ONLY ONE HAD A BLIND. THE STAIRWELL WINDOW WAS MISSING ITS BLIND AND DESPITE REPEATED PROMISES BY THE FRONT DESK THAT SHE WOULD CHECK ON IT, NOTHING WAS DONE. ALSO NOTHING WAS DONE ABOUT MY OTHER COMPLAINT THAT THE READING LIGHTS BETWEEN THE BEDS DID NOT WORK. AS A RESULT WE COULD NOT READ IN BED, AND WE KEPT WAKING UP TO A PARTIALLY LIT ROOM BECAUSE THE WINDOW TOTHE INTERMITTENTLY-LIT STAIRWELL IS UNBLINDED IN THAT ROOM 309. I LATER DETERMINED THAT WE HAD ORIGINALLY BEEN ASSIGNED TO ROOM 203, BUT WHEN I ARRIVED, WALKING WITH A CANE, APPARENTLY WE WERE RE-ASSIGNED TO ROOM 309, FOR HANDICAPPED GUESTS. BUT ALL MY COMPLAINTS TO THE DESK WERE MADE AFTER WE WERE CHECKED IN TO ROOM 309. (MAYBE SOMEBODY HAD TRIED TO FOLLOW-UP MY COMPLAINTS BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG AT ROOM 203 WHERE WE WERE NEVER CHECKED INTO.) EVEN AFTER WE HAD CHECKED OUT, THE FRONT DESK STILL THOUGHT THAT WE HAD BEEN IN ROOM 203, AS MY NAME WAS STILL ASSOCIATED WITH THAT ROOM ON FRONT DESK RECORDS. BUT NOBODY TOLD US. THIS APPEARS TO BE A MATTER OF 2 ROOM DEFICIENCIES IN ROOM 309, COMPOUNDED BY A CLERICAL ERROR THAT IMPEDED FOLLO-UP OF MY COMPLAINT TO THE CORRECT ROOM (309 VS 203). ON CHECKOUT, THE DESK CLERK SUGGESTED THAT I WRITE TO THE MANAGER. JAMES A MCPHERSON

Staff were very helpful, the location is perfect for seeing San Jose and the hotel is very clean. Not having a window on an outside wall is a little odd at first but then you realize that the view wouldn't be much if you did have one! All in all a good place to stay and the price was right

Be careful, this is an upgrade from a youth hostel. Despite the picture, the rooms may have NO windows (our 1st room) or a small window in one of 2 rooms of a "junior suite" (our 2nd room) after which we left without unpacking and upon leaving the desk clerk saying "Be aware many hotel rooms in Costa Rica have no windows." We thought that was Odd and went to a grand hotel around the corner with beautiful windows. We arrived at night and entry from the street was dirty even in the dark. The small lobby was crowded. As was the single elevator. A "restaurant" appeared dreary. The whole place a bit of a nightrmare. I was so relieved my husband found another hotel for our 3 nights including New Years, this would have been like prison (the bathroom walls are painted concrete block.) I'm sure this has a hot shower if you need one after a week at a hostel, but other than that, I see NO reason to stay here.
