Good quality/price for the region
The guesthouse is an old wooden building located 100 meter from the main building in a very quiet corner of the village. There is a free public parking right next to it. The room we had in the guesthouse was quite small and with low ceiling. The persons taller than 1m90 might touch the ceiling. The amenities were quite basic. There was no coffee machine in the room, but one coffee machine was available in the common room on the guesthouse. Unfortunately the restaurant of the guesthouse was closed during our stay (end of September) so we had to go to the main building for the breakfast. The main building has a bar with a very nice terrasse facing the mountains. We had a dinner at the restaurant of the main building and it was an amazing 3 course meal, really worth the price of 55 CHF for the vegetarian option. The hotel has a good location for hiking in the region, for the access to mount Pilatus by the cogwheel train, and to Lucern. The staff was amazing.
The view from our room in the guesthouse (with the sound of the cow's bells)

Worst experience with hotels in Switzerland
Check-in was far at another hotel. Building is old, room is tiny, toilet is very small. WiFi - completely NOT available in the room. No telephone in the room. The water from shower was drained very slowly. Could clearly hear every single word talked by people from upstairs. Each movement from people upstairs on the old wooden floor made so much noise. At least breakfast was not bad, maybe because it was in another hotel. As long as you have other choice, strongly not recommend to stay here, especially with this price. The worst experience with hotels in Switzerland ever.

The hotel itself was great, staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The only negative thing was our room had a really old bed and we could not sleep too well due to the fact that of we moved even a cm it would make an awful lot of noise. But definitely would recommend!

Not for regular tourists
This hotel is too far away from the lucerne city and the accessibility from the nearest railway station is very minimal and hotel is not even in the walking distance from the train station. The staff weren't friendly at all and the there was a huge confusion on where to checkin and where to stay as they have multiple locations nearby. The receptionist didnt even bother to provide us proper guidance to check in. Not suggested for tourists visiting the country.

Beatiful place to stay, calm and peace
Flueli-Ranft is a most beautiful village to stay. Located in Central Switzerland, it has a bus service to the stations at Sachseln and Sarnen, where there are frequent trains on the Zentralbahn to Luzern and Interlaken.

European elegance in a castle
Do you want European elegance in a castle setting? This is it! We booked this on the fly as we were driving in Switzerland and didn’t know anything about the town. This hotel sits up on a hill with lake and mountain views all around. You drive up through a flowery, vine-covered pergola to an outdoor eating area. The inside of the hotel is old world elegance with beautiful dining rooms and a bar. Our room had 2 balconies, a giant bathroom, and comfy duvet covers. We felt like royalty and were sorry to leave!

Room with a view
This place is all about the views of the surrounding mountains and valleys. The room itself is without amenities. The shower was small. There was no TV, no radio, no internet...not even wall art. One pair of binoculars. And the views are stunning. The beds were not too comfortable, but the breakfast (which was served in a different building) was amazing with even more great views

Deceiving
The view was lovely. We arrived at the Gasthaus to be told we had to go to the main hotel to register for our room (Surely a simple phone call and sighting of our passports would have been sufficient). We also had to return to the main hotel for dinner and breakfast as there was none available at the Gasthaus. There was no tv as the policy was for guests to enjoy the peaceful view through the binoculars provided. However, we saw more with our glasses on than we did through the cheap quality binoculars. Wifi was non existent at both the Gasthaus and the main hotel.

A very relaxing evening in a beautiful area. Some nice walks (if a little hilly) restaurant in the guesthouse is shut some evenings but the main super hotel is a mere short amble away.

Charming if you expectations are managed.
The Gasthaus of Paxmontana is charming. It is an older probably original building of the main hotel across the road. But there is an elevator which is a plus. It is very quiet ( except for some nearby church bells and the odd cow-bell), you are literally on your own over there with no staff to speak of. The main hotel seemed to be over run with bus groups so we were happy in the Gasthaus. The bath room and beds were fine. You DEFINITELY need Swiss electric converter plugs. The plugs are combined with the light switches so it's a little limiting. The front desk produced a converter for me when I only had the German to US plugs. It is a bit hard to find. My advice is to go directly to the main hotel to check in. They will give you the rundown and your key. Parking is readily available and the setting is breathtaking at the top of that hill. Open your windows wide and breathe. Hands down the best part of this experience was breakfast which is included. For us it was in the main hotel across the road and was varied and delicious. Many choices, great coffee and an elegant setting. A real treat. Dinner choices seem limited. If you dont want to eat at the hotel there are a FEW choices down the hill in Sachseln. But I would try to have a plan.

False Advertising!
A few days before our arrival, the hotel sent me an email stating that they would not be able to uphold the 'Breakfast Included' promise. Instead, I’d get a discount or get a packed breakfast to-go. I was very disappointed, but decided on the discount, thinking that we'd be able to get breakfast at a bakery in town. Nope! No bakeries in town. We arrived at 8:00, hungry for dinner. That wasn’t possible at the hotel, which had completely closed dinner by that time. We also found out that they were only serving vegan meals. Okay, fine. We'll find another place to eat or try vegan. Nope! No other place in town. There was only one restaurant open, and they were completely full. We decided to go to our room and eat snacks from the car, and get some work done. Nope! The advertised wifi does not extend to the rooms. Why? Because it's 'against their philosophy'. One must to go to the restaurants to get wifi. While checking out the next morning, (early because I won’t stay in a hotel where I cannot get wifi) I noticed the remnants of a great breakfast on many plates at the main hotel building. Apparently they did serve breakfast, but not to those of us in the Gasthaus. Nice. They were very accommodating in letting us check out early and giving us a cup of coffee for the road. But, I could never endorse a hotel who treats 'regular' customers so poorly because they have a conference in residence. And, I can never endorse a hotel that lies about wifi.

I had contacted the hotel prior to our stay to arrange a surprise dinner for my wife of 20 years. The staff was very accommodating with flowers and a special table for the dinner. Many thanks to the staff and hotel for such a memorable evening.

Great Views! Clean and neat spacious room.
The location was amazing. Room was big enough for 3 people, It was clean and neat. Restaurant on the ground floor was really nice. The guy who was serving food there was really kind and professional. Breakfast was in next big Paxmontana hotel which I will never forget. I will surely go there again
