If you are looking for a fun place where you can still see Cowboys & Cowgirls go to Wild West Arena & Bar in Winchester, CA or the Winchester Inn both are super friendly places with a taste of the past and an easy back country drive away; driving along a fun two lane road that rolls in front of Lake Skinner off Washington/Rancho California road.
Rodrigo's is good Mexican Food near Temecula mall by taking Rancho California road to Butterfield road is the safest and easiest route to go.
I would park my car and walk to Masia de la Vinya, Cougar and Frangipani wineries. I would call Grape Vine Wine Tour (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN) & have Mike N. pick you up - take you to places of your choice. I would also have Rick Wiggins with Wiggins Fine Arts come over to create some professional photo memories (PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN). Fantasy Balloons with Dan Glick is a fabulous experience; please tell Dan that I the girl who lived in Indio back in the 70's recommended you to him. Of course if you do not mind walking a mile one way it's an easy flat walk to Danza del Sol, & Leoness wineries. Great food can be a short walk to
Masia De La Vinya on the weekend they usually have a van truck in the parking lot from 4pm - 7pm
or
you can walk over 7 days a week all day until closing at Cougar winery.
Heading a different direction a little over a mile away down Monte De Oro road is Ponte Cellar which has live music, food and drinks available until 1am.
Whatever you choose to do. Enjoy!
