Maybe the Worst Hotel We’ve Ever Booked
We walked into our room and immediately noticed a card telling us our room had been “cleaned by Olympia” with a QR code for leaving a tip. Normally, we’d be cool with that. However, it was pretty obvious that Olympia hadn’t actually cleaned the room. The floor was filthy, and when we pulled back the blankets, the sheets were covered in boogers (no joke) and blood stains. I tried calling down to the front desk for someone to fix the issue, but no one answered the phone… multiple times. I finally went down to the lobby and there was already another customer who had been waiting for quite some time at the front desk. Finally, after quite some time someone finally showed up. She put us in a different room so we had to pack everything back up and haul our stuff to a different room. That room had obviously actually been cleaned, but was still beyond gross. We killed several cockroaches that were inhabiting every part of the room. The ceiling was peeling away with chunks ready to fall down. The bathroom was very rundown and just didn’t look like it could even be cleaned. The whole room was just gross. Also, the air didn’t seem to work. It barely blew anything at all and the air it did blow out was warm, not cool. It was way too hot to sleep. I honestly don’t understand all the positive reviews for this place. We got up early and got out of there because it just wasn’t pleasant at all to be there. We’ve definitely put this on our “Do Not Book Again” list.

Staff members let us stand at the front desk for a while. We could see her sitting in the Backroom. Didn’t bother to get up. I was tired so maybe a little more frustrated than I should have been. Dogs barking in other rooms was bad. Smokers smoking outside the entrances. Had to walk through it every time.

We where pleasantly surprized by the complimentary wine and beer at 6-8 .. was very nice to meet and chat with other people staying at the hotel, We even brought the dog to lobby and a couple from the Netherlands can over to see her and my mother in law was from Belgium and they had a lovely chat .. they said it made their day to meet someone from Europe this wouldn’t have happened had we not gone down for the free happy hour … and our bartender was fabulous..kind and friendly. Nicely done Wyndham.

Definitely not worth $140 per night. Tub in shower filled up within 3 minutes and took a long time to drain. Mattress has support foam under them that is crumbling from age. Furniture looked worn and not updated. Breakfast was not worth the stay, ate elsewhere. Very disappointed. Staff was fantastic and pleasant. We’re taking Wingate off our list of go-to hotels.

We stopped here on the way down and the way back from a quick vacation at Mgaritaville Resort, Orlando. They offered a great, happy hour and the breakfast was really good. Along with awesome service, the front desk guy who check us in was there both times and he was awesome. The hotel was clean as always. And we will definitely use this as our stopping point again.

The location was ok. Several restaurants within walking distance. Exterior and lobby/dining area have been updated so gives good impression when you arrive. However, rooms are in need of an overhaul especially the bathrooms. Dirty caulking dirty door which we had a hard time closing. Overpriced.

If you're traveling with pets, the Wingate by Wyndham is a great choice with a super affordable pet Fee $20 and a large grassy lawn area plus a terrific double fenced entry to a mini dog park area. Our two Spaniels appreciated being able to stretch their legs after a long car ride. Restaurant options nearby, a few are walking distance.
