Our whole experience in Belgrave Sands was excellent apart from breakfast service. Possibly staff shortage but our first morning was spoilt by being ignored for half an hour when we had to ask for even a cup of tea-we actually thought we must be invisible. The reception, bar staff, and cleaners could not have been more helpful.

The biggest plus about this property is the staff: they were wonderful, both at check-in and at check-out. The lobby area is large and inviting, and well-lit. Rather than having on-site parking, the property chose to turn the hotel forecourt into outdoor seating with picnic tables. While sitting outside might be nice in the wamer summer months, not having on-site parking is a negative: the hotel sits on a residential street, so street parking nearby is at a premium. The bedroom corridor and bedroom itself immediately brought to mind a hotel I stayed at in Cornwall in the 1970s. Both were clean and properly maintained, but a renovation would not go amiss: the wall paper was very 1970s! The bed was comfortable as were the pillows, and the comforter was great: I slept like a baby! The bathroom, however, was minute, and that is not an exaggeration. It was a squeeze to get into the shower, and as a 6'1", 250 lb woman, there was barely room in the shower stall to get washed. Given the size of room overall, there would have been plenty of room to increase the size of the bathroom without taking away any of the spaciousness of the bedroom. Overall, this hotel served its purpose as a low-budget, affordable overnight stay, and I would certainly choose to stay here again.

Had to get away for a few days due to some renovations at home so decided on torquay, was going to look at the Travelodge or premier inn but hotels.com recommend this one, good price and free breakfast what could go wrong? NOTHING, it was an absolutely fantastic stay and thank you to all the staff, professional, welcoming and helpful. I feel totally refreshed.

The staff are absolutely marvellous and go out of their way to please. The only slight disappointment was the limited dining menu.
