There was no hot water when I took a shower in the morning. Yes, I let the pipes run for a bit and hoped even while I showered it would heat up, but the heat never came. There were only mere moments of warm-ish water. After my cold shower, it took several tries to get the blow dryer working. Finally, when I tried to shut the window rollers at night, it would only lower half way. Took some messing with, but I eventually fixed it myself and got them to lower fully.

I have stayed at the Empire regularly over the past 40 years. What saddens me is to see the conditions of the rooms - especially the bathrooms. Paint peeling and bubbling on door, filthy grout, vanity handle broken on door under sink, toilet paper roll holder falling off on the floor. USB ports on one side of bed; the other side, good luck crawling up under the table to plug something in. Same for the table under mirror. No accessible plugs without gettin on your hands and knees to crawl under the table. Lighting? Forget it. Very dim working conditions for the business traveler and impossible to have video conference. I hate the hidden service fee. Why do I keep returning? Location, location, location, and the rooftop bar is nice.

The rooms need a total update. The walls in the bathroom looked moldy. Incredibly small room, that made it difficult to walk around the bed. I paid over $1,000 for two night stay. I expected better sleeping conditions. The rooms didn’t have a safe deposit box- a standard everywhere else. Location is great, it’s a shame the rooms where is such bad conditions.

The hotel is in a great location . The hotel bar is great . The staff are really friendly , very helpful. Unfortunately the bathroom is very small and narrow . The door to the room is difficult to shut .

For a "4" Star hotel, this property is in such disrepair. The mattress was falling apart, the lamp and wallpaper was torn up, the bathroom sink was clogged, the pillows are old and lumpy and the pillowcase was dirty, the desk had food crusted on it, and the carpets were gross. For the luxury price, I've stayed at nicer motels.

We never had our room cleaned, left for the whole day and came back in the afternoon and the room was not cleaned, the internet worked really bad in the room and you would think a hotel in manhattan would not have that type of problem. Definitely not staying here again!!!
