We were working nearby for a period of 7 days. As usual my colleagues and I had a very comfortable stay at The Courtyard. The rooms were clean and well laid out. The only complaint I could have is the checking in procedure where our multiple bookings (via Hotels.com) seemed hard to find on the hotel system.
I arrived about 8pm, very tired I wanted to watch the news , check emails, have a meal and sleep. The TV did not work, the guest login did not work, reception logged in my Ipad and I accepted the lack of TV. After a meal I went straight to bed. In the morning I noticed various bits of packaging from M & S and Zara I also found 2 used towels. On the washbasin there were 2 filthy flannels which were wet and appeared to have been used for cleaning muddy shoes. The shower mat had also been used and so it was apparent that the room had not been cleaned. I complained at reception to a lady who was most sympathetic and assured me her manager would call me. No such call transpired
We stayed one night. I appreciate good breakfast, location close to Oxford city centre large car park. I didnt like fixed windows which I cant open to breathe fresh air instead of air conditioned sh*t...
Lovely hotel, lovely room, great location, parking a bonus, just a shame that when we wanted to check in at 4pm in a bit of a rush that the room wasn't ready (despite check in being from 3pm)
The hotel was busy but they seemed not to be able to cope with the number of people staying. Check-in took forever and the room they had allocated us was given away to a day guest. Breakfast was a sparse affair as they kept running out of food. Our room was not cleaned etc. as we discovered when we arrived back late, when nothing could be done about it.
Friendly helpful staff and a really comfy bed. However the water pressure was comically bad on the 2nd floor (I had a dribble shower!) and the TV turned itself self off every few minutes. Breakfast is like a zoo - too few tables, too many people and the space for the buffet is too limited. Baffled how a virtually brand new hotel van have so many issues.
Checkin was a waste of time. Rooms were said to be ready from 3pm and we dudnt end up getting the keys until 3:40pm. We were told at 3pm there would be a 5-10mimute wait and again told another 15minute wait after the initial 10 minutes. 2 other couples in the lobby confirmed they weree also having the same issue and being told the same thing. It was especially frustrating as we needed to be leaving at 4pm.
We reserved and paid for a Superior King sized room for 4. We got a small room with one double bed and a single sized sofa bed - barely enough beds for 3 let alone 4. One of us slept on the floor--most unpleasant as the carpet was urine and feces stained. Really poor accommodations for what was paid. I think I should get a refund on the room as it did not cover any of the qualifications as reserved and paid for.
Another average stay really ok but not great. The room was ok but lots of litter and crap under the drink station wrappers and rubbish.
However the staff are nice and maybe a little limited on facing skills
