Two necessities a hotel should guarantee: sleep & hygiene. When I woke up after a long backpacking trip in PA needing to shower, shave, & brush my teeth, to my surprise there was no water. I called the front desk and they told me “the township is working on the water lines,” & I should try to turn it off on back on for water. I tried this several times. I also recall the night before when I checked in there was inconsistent water… similar to air being in the water line after water has been turned off. I was in a recently renovated room, so I thought nothing of it... just air in the pipes. I got a trickle of water for a shower in the morning, then nothing midway. I talked to the front desk attendant and asked if she was the manager and she said no, and did not offer a manager. She said she would offer me 1,000 club member points for my inconvenience, but couldn’t find my membership. I was frustrated & already running behind for my nine hour drive, so I left. I stopped at the gas station 300 feet away and asked if they had running water and they said yes, and that I was not the first person to ask from that hotel, and in fact, they have not had any issues, he thought it was an issue with the hotel. I brushed my teeth there. I’ve stayed at a lot of IHG hotels, and this was my first truly poor experience. I’m a manager in the hospitality business as well and the lack of action is unexplainable. If I was told about this issue upon check-in, I would have driven to the next town.
