Very comfortable room, nicely decorated, good temperature (not too hot, not too cold). Staff all very pleasant, must say massive thank you to the manager who was very accommodating.
Lovely pub with comfortable room. Friendly staff and nice beer. I was greeted with a warm welcome and escorted to my room. Tea/coffee making facilities were present and fresh milk available on request in the bar. I only had breakfast once but it was tasty and well presented.
When we arrived at 8.45pm there was only a young lad there waiting with our key. Apparently the owners had done a moonlight flit and left everything to be sorted out by the young man who honestly did his best. There was no food on offer as they had closed the pub. The room was very clean and very comfortable (thank goodness). Limited coffee and tea facilities though. They had a lot of maintenance people there the next day which was a bit noisy. Such a shame as it has the makings of a nice place.

Disliked: Staff & service
Fair
Short stay otherwise would have complained x very smelly room on arrival with windows wide open. I know petty but only teabags in room, no coffee and on going down stairs to restaurant on asking young man looked at me like i had 2 heads and asked me to buy a coffee. Have to pass through dish washing and kitchen to get to out of way door to upto room.
The new menu was very limited with not a lot of choose from. The starter we ordered cam with garlic but there was no mention of garlic on the menu when i pointed this out we were offered a replacement but were told that the chef prepares them before hand and a new one would need to be prepared and it would take a bit of time . At the end of the meal the waitress said ,thank you for your patience, i a very condescending way like it was all my fault . We did notice several meals being returned to the kitchen ,Having looked on line the food on there is nothing like what is served .The room was very nice but for the plug in the sink did not work so we had to leave the tap running to get a wash . I wont be staying there again its such a shame its a nice looking place .
I have stayed at the Rising Sun a handful of times and it was always so great, they have had new management since my last visit a couple of months ago and that now really shows in the hygiene of the room and service.
Staff were very friendly and welcoming. We chose this hotel as it is dog friendly and it certainly is. Our room was nice and spacious and the bathroom very good with plenty of room and a great shower. I was also impressed to see that there were plenty of gluten free options on the menu and the meal we had was delicious. A lovely relaxing stay.
Lovely rooms attached to the Rising Sun Pub. We only stayed for one night for work, but everything was fantastic. The rooms were lovely and the menu at the pub was great as well. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Will definitely stay again.
I travelled down with other family members for a funeral.
We needed 2 nights bed and breakfast in a dog friendly hotel and the Rising Sun delivered exactly that. We received a warm welcome and the rooms are modern and clean. There is a great breakfast choice, cooked as you require (including vegan). There are playing fields close by with plenty of bins and fields beyond, so the dog was happy too! Would return!
We had an amazing 3 nights stay, we arrived on the Saturday and then went to the football, train station around a mile away and only a 10 minute ride to temple meads. So we were fairly late getting back on the Saturday night (around 10.30) this was no problem though. Breakfast was impeccable each morning. The room was immaculately clean, a good size with excellent facilities. Came with a wet room style shower and a lovely large bath. The tinniest disappointment was the bar staffs manor on 2 occasions myself and my wife found them to be a little rude, we found ourselves waiting at the bar area for 5 minutes whilst 3 members of staff completely ignored us, so to be honest we ate elsewhere during the evenings. However it didn’t spoil our stay as it was that good. Although it’s close to a road we didn’t hear any traffic and it was completely silent at night, excellent nights sleep each night. Highly recommended and will definitely stay again.
The room was comfortable and clean with ample space. Excellent check in and parking. Pleasant staff offering good service making the overall experience relaxing
Booked for a weekend in September. Was amazed how good the whole experience was. Everything was perfect. Fantastic room - clean, well appointed, comfy bed and stylish. Staff were brilliant. Nothing negative to say.
Lovely pub B&B unfortunately we were at the front of the hotel and I think they should contact the council and get the drain in the road repaired, as from 5 am all you heard were 2 loud bangs every time a vehicle drove over it! The bed was really comfy and the cleanliness of the room was superb. Enjoyed our stay except for the drain. Food not spectacular a few issues with the evening meal and breakfast was not the greatest.
