House and neighborhood was nice. Hurricane Ida rolled through a week before, causing storm surge to wash up sand over the roads and apparently damage the boardwalk to the beach. All understandable, however, the damaged boardwalk had its stairs broken off. I called ahead and asked about the condition of the house before we drove 9 hours to the house, and was told that everything was fine and to come down. There were screws sticking out of the boardwalk, where the stairs were, and the stairs and other lumber was just tossed or washed up and left out in the open. There were also exposed screws on this lumber. There was also a small amount of broken glass on the boardwalk. There was also a significant amount of sand washed up on the concrete slab under the house, no real biggie there considering Ida. There was zero internet, unlike advertised. It wasn’t until we arrived, when we read that the internet could just not work, not a biggie considering being on an island and Ida. Other than the issue with the stairs and trash lumber with exposed screws and not being told about it when I called and asked, it was a great stay. The surf fishing was great. We really enjoyed the property after a little cleanup on “our” end. We had two 80+ year old women with use and the lack of the full boardwalk made it really difficult for them to make their way to the beach. The picture of the boardwalk and how it went strait to the beach, was a big attraction and a big disappointment when we found it unusable. The lumber with the screws was also a big let down, as we had our 4 year old daughter with us, so we had that to worry about and clean up, as much as we could. Still a great stay on a nice property in a nice neighborhood.
