If you dont like hiking i wouldnt recomend this one for its lication as its pretty out of thebway. Perfeft for the outdoorsy type my only real complaint was that there was a large scout group when i was there and there was lots of screaming and running around and the scout leaders were not saying anything even when kids were pushing past people running into them and slamming doors.
The YHA Langdale is a well run hostel, with a wide range of leisure and outdoor activities on its doorstep. The hostel itself is clean, and its staff are friendly and helpful. This capped with the fact that it's set in an idyllic position for exploring the Lake District national park. Great value for money, and would thoroughly recommend. I'll be back.!

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service, room comfort
Remote but high standards in the hostel.
The location is a little remote, and the car park not as big as it could have been. The staff were very pleasant, although there were some noisy guests in the common^/communal areas. The Breakfast was good value and the area picturesque. There was maintenance work being carried out on the building leading to a lot of hazard tape which spoilt the look of the building although this would be temporary.
I've not stayed in a youth hostel for years after having a bad experience but I needed something cheap and cheerful last minute so took the plunge with this one and it was perfect.
It's a lovely old house (there's a booklet with the history of the house at reception) which has been converted and it's been really well done. The communal areas are very nice and rather grand, the dorms are a good size, and the beds are very comfortable. The whole place was spotless. I think the showrooms might have been recently been replaced, they're modern and very nice.
The self catering kitchen facilities are great or you can buy prepared food if you're their at the right times (I arrived late and left early so missed out on the food!) There is a pretty well stocked bar which is reasonably priced.
The staff are super friendly too.
My only disappointment was that I wasn't staying longer!
We really enjoyed our stay in this beautiful place! We loved the tiny windy roads leading in and out with the most amazing scenery. The hostel was a beautiful place to stay with great food (at a great price), very comfortabe and very helpful, friendly staff. Walking around the grounds was amazing - we saw all sorts of birds & animals.
