My stay was ok wouldn’t rush back in a hurry rooms so basic and not the cleanest dirty marks on walls looking tired a bit . But staff friendly enough
lovely hotel with comfortable clean rooms and helpful, pleasant staff. Dinner menu quite limited and stayed the same the whole week. That was the only downside to our stay, which we really enjoyed
George Hotel is lovely, but, with one or two exceptions, the staff seems bored and uninterested. Hard to get attention at the bar or restaurant. It seemed like an imposition when I asked a staff member to clear a table do we could sit there.

Disliked: Staff & service
No remote in my room, no towels in my travel companions room, rooms we not made up daily, which I’ve never experienced before, and no telephone in rooms made getting assistance a pain. The hotel was in general nice, bar and restaurant were good, staff were good and the location is lovely. But the poor housekeeping spoilt the stay a little.
We had a very comfortable, relaxing stay during our 3 days hiking Hadrians Wall. Perfect location for access to the wall, clean comfortable accommodation and good food

Disliked: Room comfort
Great location but rooms poorly refurbished
We had stayed here previously and though rooms a little dated had been comfortable with pleasant staff. The place has been decorated since, but although it looks more fresh we felt the comfort was actually worse. The room refurbishment has not been done well. Beds were not comfortable and need replacing. Bedside lamp not working. Wash basin tap barely turns on. Room door would only close if banged shut with force.
The hotel is in a fabulous position at the side of a river and our room had an amazing view over the garden to the river and bridge. It was a nice spacious room with good contents, from an ironing board to biscuits, and I would be happy to stay there again.
The food was excellent, with good quality food and very good cooking. The Sunday roast was a treat and the breakfast was really good.
Not able to use the restaurant for an evening meal on the 2nd night was a bit disappointing as they said they was a little too busy. As a hotel guest, and as it is no where near any pther amenities, i would expect a meal.
Enviable views, location and building. Great for a pint beside the North Tyne.
Service however was generally lacking. Dinner menu didn't match what was shown on the website. Booked a double room but only had tea and coffee for one and no toiletries. Toilet facilities and leisure facilities also in need of an upgrade. Unfortunate for a hotel in a plum location.
Lovely 3 night stay. My only issue was that the rooms are not serviced each day, supposedly you can request this by putting the sign on the door. I did this but it still didn’t get done. This means the milk, tea and coffee are not refreshed Every day I had to ask at reception for more and as there are no phones in the rooms this is a real pain if you forget. Part of the hotel experience is to have your room done each day. Apart from that a lovely hotel gorgeous view of the garden and river from our room and really nice to sit out in the garden if the weathers good enough
