It is considered a typical Taiwanese hotel room, small, but sufficiently equipped, clean and comfortable and EXTREMELY affordable. I was there for 10 days, and found the staff (a few spoke English) to be extremely helpful even with the translation issues. Most of the front staff spoke or understood English well enough to convey what I needed. Those that didn't, I found use of a Translator App and Currency Converter extremely helpful on my phone. Also, be prepared that your international phone plan may not work here. I had to buy a local plan with simcard that fit into my unlocked phone. After that, it worked just fine for local calls, but meant my phone number would not be active while here. Also, some apps offer member-only free texting and phone calls to anywhere as long as your recipient is also a member. This was a life saver for me.
