Impossible to check in. Showed up before end of office hours (which is very different to the hours listed on Expedia), nobody in the office, nobody to check me in, stumbled across managed by chance after 40 minutes who shut his door in my face saying he wasn’t working , and found me again later on to let me in. No other backpackers staying here, mainly pensioners or drunk 14 year olds. Would not recommend.
The people - staff and other guests - were fantastic. Bed were really small no bed sheets provided only one blanket and pillow. Mattress is thin. The amenities are old and the showers are dark. There is constant hair on the floor of the shower and the bedrooms. The kitchens don’t have a freezer and the fridges are always full and dishes consistently left out. Floors are squeaky so you can hear people walking about all night. Very limited parking on site for the number of guests and street parking only after 5pm
I have completed the likes. Only one small negative. My friend, who I came from Qld to visit in Burnie, drove to Launceston on the 13 to stay overnight with me. When she called to book, "the inn was full"! It would have been great to know that my single room had two beds in it. I only stayed overnight and have no complaints.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service, amenities
Found out Birds poo and dirt on beds ( ensuite). Also found out one of the light keep flashing in the evening.there’s no one in the reception , so we called the staff and he said the technician will only come tomorrow morning. But I would already check out tomorrow morning, that’s no point. And I asked for room changing, he said the manager refused it. I requested him to take out the light tube if he can’t change it and also changed the quilt cover for me at least. But he just a spray and cloth to wipe it . I asked if u can just give me a cleaned quilt cover, I can even change it by myself. And he said he didn’t have any spare. So u can imagine the hygiene here. If u have some basic expectations abt cleanliness. I don’t recommend this backpackers. Even for a backpacker standard!
We had a room with ensuite which was quite large and bright. Very clean and great water pressure in the shower. We used the shared kitchen and dining facilities which were also very clean and had sanitiser and spray available. There are a few on-site parking spots and the gate is locked at night. It is across the road from a small park. An easy walk to a good Chinese restaurant that has takeaway but you can also walk to Coles supermarket. Just a few kilometres to First Basin at Cataract Gorge.
Quiet, secure, comfortable room, helpful staff. I had a pleasant stay at this well-run backpackers.

Kitchen good size and clean. Nice laundry facilities.
Bedding should be included in the price of the dorm room considering the price. Bathrooms not very clean. On check in would be nice for an explanation of where things are like kitchen, bathrooms etc

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Staff was great. Kitchen was clean and well organized. Room was nice but needed more seating in the lounge.
Impossible to sleep during the 3 nights we stayed , with guests banging doors and playing loud music all night, despite clear rules. Amenities and location were satisfactory, apart from the lack of air con or ceiling fan in the double room which was sun facing.
Great looking and well kept historic building. Matt on reception was really helpful each time and did some looking for us to get onto a local wine tour the next day at short notice.
My only complaint about the place was that the bedroom was a bit on the cold side. I had a single room with a double bed, and it would have been fine except that Tassie in the winter is a bit cold, even in Launceston, and a bit of a heater both in the bedroom and in the bath would have gone a long way towards making the place more comfortable. Other than that it was fine.
