Great location
Typical for NYC, tiny room and dated look. We paid extra for high floor, worth it. Close to Chelsea and Penn station. Convenient to get to Time Square as well. Iconic hotel.

For the price, the rooms were smaller than our cruise ship room. And the bathroom was half the size! It's super noisy with the traffic below, even though we were on the 21st floor. Everything looked old and dingy. On the other hand, it was just a minute walk from Penn Station and a 12 minute walk from Time Square.

Lot of construction in front and beside hotel. Streets were crowded and dirty. Tick Tock restaurant was amazing! Inside the hotel was welcoming, clean, comfortable. They need to clean air vents.

This hotel is very dated...in bad need of an upgrade. The rooms look like they go back to the 60's or 70's. The bathroom and closet doors were so old and warped we could not close them. I actually had to leave the room so my wife could use the bathroom because the door would not close. Good location if you are going to MSG. Staff was helpful getting cabs and finding restaurants etc.

Very disappointed with how old this hotels interiors are. In our bedroom did not want to walk on carpet with bare feet. Shower was decent albeit ancient. Carpet outside lift duct taped together. On a positive great location but grim inside. Our floor 27 was anyway. Will not stay there again.

Keeping in mind it's an old hotel with character, a few updates could be made. Fraying carpets at elevator bank on floor 25. Bathtub finish worn out. Paint walls over due. Felt a tad on the dingy side. Staff excellent! Bring entry pleasing. Location perfect for access to shopping, transit, sightseeing and more.

The New Yorker is just OK; a place to go if you want to stay in Mid-town, but you have few other options. The hotel decor is tired and the staff is even more so. It offers nothing in terms of amenities but saddles you with extra fees for every little thing. Beware, don’t ask the staff for directions to anywhere. If you’re now shot down with an immediate “I don’t know.” you’ll get marginal answer at best. That said, if all you need is a place to sleep and you know the city well, it’s an OK option.
