Poor experience. Upon check-in learned that I have to spend five dollars just to hold my luggage, this was a first for me. Rooms were very small, conversations easily heard from neighboring rooms, doors slamming easily heard, outdated rooms with old decor, no mini fridge, no water offered in the room or front desk. Only good thing was the location right by Penn Station.

Honestly the lobby was nice and the staff were very friendly, but a lot of decor is outsated, and my biggest gripe was the pillows were incredibly uncomfortable, firm and small which lednto poor sleep...

Cozy but dated
The staff was excellent and the lobby area was luxurious. Our 36th floor queen bed room showed its age, though. The carpets and paint were dingy in an old, not dirty, kind of way. The bathroom was very cramped and the hot water came in and out depending on what others in our area were doing in the bathrooms at the same time. The closet was absolutely frigid bc it was on the outside of the building and that cold seeped into the room. Bed was comfortable, but TV and bed were situated in a way you couldn’t actually watch tv from bed unless you were by yourself, and even then it would have been uncomfortable. It was fine for a one night stay right there in midtown NYC, but much more than that would have been harder.

Another great stay!
Another great stay at The New Yorker. Clean room, comfortable bed. Staff is very friendly. The attached Tic Toc diner was wonderful as always with general portions & good for NYC prices. Doorman was extremely helpful with cabs & helping me navigate with my cane.

They will nickel and dime you to death. An additional $30 a day for absolutely nothing is crazy. They charge you to put your luggage in a room while you wait for your room to be ready. We always choose an early flight so we can spend the day doing something and take a late flight leaving. They charge to hold your luggage. They charge if you want to check in early even though your room is ready. They want to charge you to stay an extra 30 minutes in your room even though the staff is busy cleaning other rooms. They need to update the bathrooms. There is no vanity. The lighting is horrible. As a repeat visitor, they gave us the worst view ever.

Oh my gosh! They charge for every little thing! If you want to stay a few minutes later, they want to charge you. If you want to check in early, even though your room is ready they want to charge you. We always take an early flight so that we can spend the entire day doing something in the city. They charge you to just put your bags in a holding area. The additional $30 a day for absolutely nothing is crazy. We love the location, but I’m tired of being nickeled and dimed to death.
