Let your worries drift away the minute you step onto our private dock at our home we like to call “Fish Tales” from either your own boat or the water taxi. This well appointed bayfront home will definitely make you forget about work and worries. Little Gasparilla Island is a bridgeless barrier island, with no traffic, street lights or cars. Walking the paths or driving a golf cart are the preferred mode of getting around on the island. There is a golf cart rental business on-island, when you book your stay with us, the contact information will be included. LGI has no stores, retail businesses or hustle and bustle, the goal here is to relax, unplug and unwind. We believe that there’s so much to do on the island, walk on the beach, fish from our private dock, explore the island, use the 2 adult kayaks provided, play board games with the kids, etc., you won’t miss the outside world. We do have a DVD player with a large library of movies, a selection of paperback books, and DirecTV with the major channels included. Roku is also available, for your streaming channels. We do have WiFi with complete coverage throughout the house as well as the downstairs deck and yard. You’ll have contact with the outside world, if you choose to do so!
This is a 3 bedroom, 3 bath home, with central air and heat, that has spectacular views of the bay and a front row seat to the sunrise every morning. You’re also just a short walk away from the beautiful beach. You’ll be staying on the southern end of the island and the beach is quiet and secluded. The pathway to the beach meanders through the sea oats and sand dunes. Seashells abound and the beach is made for long walks. There are beach chairs, towels and umbrellas for your use. The beach and our home is dog friendly, however we ask that your pet be under 40 pounds and there is a $100 non-refundable fee for their stay. Dogs must be on a leash and under your control at all times. Due to our allergies, however, we regret we cannot allow cats. Packing for your stay at our home is easy, just bring your swimsuits, shorts, T-shirts and flip flops and you’re ready for a relaxing time.
The dock is right in front of the house, steps away from the front door, making your life easier when bringing in groceries and your luggage. The dock has mooring whips for ease in tying your boat, and if you don’t bring your own boat, have no fear, the fishing from the dock is amazing! We have green fish lights submerged at the end of the dock and the fish are attracted to it every night. There is a fish cleaning station with fresh water as well as a covered area with a bench. It’s a beautiful place to view the sunrise with your morning coffee. Watch for the dolphins that frequent the area! Manatee sightings are very common, as they feed on the grasses under the docks in the bay. If you’re planning on bringing your boat, you’re just a short trip to some of the best fishing in Southwest Florida. Placida Harbor has great fishing, and Bull Bay and Boca Grande Pass are nearby. There are waterfront restaurants in the area, too, and they make for a great end to a successful fishing trip.
The home will sleep 6, the master bedroom with an en-suite bath has a comfortable king size bed and plenty of closet space. The second bedroom is a queen bedroom also with a large closet, and the third bedroom has two twin beds with closet. There are sliding doors from both the master and queen bedrooms to a screened back porch with water views of the southern canal as well as a view of the Gulf. A quaint porch swing and Adirondack chairs furnish the back porch for your seating. A spacious hall bath completes the sleeping area.
The kitchen is well equipped with a microwave, dishwasher, large French door refrigerator and stove. The views from the living room, kitchen and front screened porch are simply the best views on the island! With Bird Key to the south and the open waters of Placida Harbor, the view from every window will be a view to remember. Sliding doors open the living room up to the screened porch which has yet another porch swing and rockers to view the sunrise and the large expanse of water.
Downstairs is a spacious deck with comfortable seating and a large table for dining al fresco. There is a LP gas grill on the deck as well. The views from ground level of the bay are just as beautiful as from above. There is a separate laundry room (laundry supplies are included) on the ground level as well as the third bathroom. We also have a large outdoor shower with a pet wash hose. We ask that you use this outdoor shower if you’re sandy from the beach.
Along with the required pet fee, there is a $400 refundable security deposit required and after your stay, if there are no issues, it will be sent back to you within 14 days. There is also a $150 cleaning fee (which is not negotiable) and 12% sales and county tourist tax.
Ring cameras are in use on the exterior of our property.
Some things to note about the island:
You have to bring all groceries with you to the island, as there are no stores. However, for a fee, there is an island grocery service that will deliver groceries to your dock, with you ordering from either Publix or Walmart on-line.
There is no need to bring drinking water with you, the water is supplied by county hookup and is safe and drinkable.
There are first responders on island and we have 911 emergency service.
The only access to the island is by boat, either your own, or water taxi. The taxi runs from Eldred’s Marina from approximately 8-5 daily, however later runs are available for an additional fee. You must call well in advance of your visit to reserve your trip. The water taxi is $15 per person, $30 minimum, each way and you will be picked up and dropped off right at your dock. You can safely park your car at Eldred’s Marina for a $8 fee per day (subject to change).
You are responsible for your garbage removal, there is a $2 per bag fee at Eldred’s dumpster.
